Competing against a presidential fundraising campaign

We want to be completely up front with you about something. After one of our strongest fundraising months ever in June, our online fundraising has taken a big hit. That’s a big issue. If you want to help out immediately, please donate through this link.

We get it. Online donations center around elections, and without an active primary, donating to Alexandria’s campaign may seem like less of a priority. But in this email, we want to talk about why your continued support is absolutely critical for the big, bold, progressive goals we have planned.

Team AOC believes in going above and beyond the call of duty. This is about more than just re-electing Alexandria and defeating her Republican opponent in November. It’s about organizing to better our community, fighting for NY-14, and embodying our progressive values. Here are a few examples:

1. Census Outreach: Experts estimate that up to 2 out of every 7 folks in New York’s 14th may not fill out the census by the deadline. That would cause a massive loss of public resources and representation. So we’re working with community organizations and hiring staffers to help reach out and boost that count as much as we can.
2. Voter Registration: Across the country, Democratic voter registration has plummeted in the wake of COVID-19. The more people that we have involved voting in local, state, and federal elections, the more pressure we can place on out-of-touch leaders to represent people’s true interests. That’s why we’re putting staffers on the ground (safely) to help register new voters and get folks off the sidelines.
3. Community Organizing Workshops: Almost every week, we’re hosting a series of workshops to help tackle local issues and embolden NY-14 based organizations. Just last week, we hosted an Eviction Defense Workshop to help tenants organize against the upcoming wave of NYC evictions.
4. Supporting Progressive Allies: Over the past year, we’ve raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to elect progressive allies to the halls of power in Congress. Volunteers with Team AOC have placed tens of thousands of calls in support of fellow Squad members and Courage to Change candidates. Together, we’re electing new leaders.

All of these ambitious plans are 100% reliant on a powerful grassroots fundraising campaign. Alexandria isn’t like other members of Congress. She refuses 100% of corporate PAC donations and doesn’t spend hours calling rich donors for contributions. Instead, she’s fighting for you.

That’s our situation. If you believe in a political campaign that goes above and beyond the call of duty – one that is a model of more than just winning an election, but building a better world for all – please make a contribution to fund this important work right now.
