Update: Make sure Jeff Bezos sees #AMZNSpeakOut

Image

It’s working! You recently joined more than 20,000 other Greenpeacers to call on Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to stop threatening employees for speaking out about Amazon’s climate problem.

Your message was part of a flood of public support these brave employees these received over the last few weeks — you've even helped inspire Bernie Sanders, Naomi Klein, and others to add their voices!

These courageous workers refuse to be silenced. Just this week, hundreds of Amazon employees decided to bravely speak out — because they refuse to let their company control the conversation about its role in the climate crisis.

This wave of internal resistance is becoming difficult for Bezos to ignore. But we need to make sure he knows the public is watching too.

Will you please take 1 minute to watch and tweet this compelling #AMZNSpeakOut video from the hundreds of courageous Amazon employees? Together, we can make sure that Bezos gets the message loud and clear: your employees will not be silenced, and we refuse to look away.

If you don’t use Twitter, don’t worry. We know corporate PR teams and executives closely count views on social media like this. Simply watching the video has an impact!

Right now, Amazon is touting its (inadequate) climate plans while simultaneously partnering with companies like BP, Shell, and others to extract, move, and sell more fossil fuels that need to stay in the ground. Amazon’s employees are worried about the future of their children and communities, and that’s why they’re assuming great personal risk to call out their employer for its climate problem.

It’s becoming clear that these brave workers are winning the moral argument, and further isolating Bezos and this punitive, backward attempt to silence employees.

Please click here to share this video and help us make this policy even more of a PR problem for Amazon. We have a special tool that makes tweeting easy.
We know this is just the tip of the iceberg for Amazon — whose environmental footprint and treatment of workers are major problems. Together, we can start to chip away at the wall of defenses that Bezos has built to avoid accountability. To get there, all of us must refuse to be silent.
Let’s make this video impossible to ignore.

No more silence,
Caroline Henderson
Senior Climate Campaigner, Greenpeace USA

P.S. Even if you don't use Twitter please just go and watch the video. It's so powerful.
Greenpeace never takes a dime from corporations or governments. Everything we do is thanks to the generous support of people like you!
