This is a longer email about saying goodbye, but if you don’t have time to read through, I would deeply appreciate a contribution to power our campaign.

After nearly a century of operation, Valley Forge Military Academy — the place where I went to school and grew from an angry, complicated child to a confident young man — will be closing.

When my mother first sent me to the Forge, she saw military school as a last resort in response to a seemingly endless chain of misbehavior, both at home and at school. At age 11, I’d already felt handcuffs on my wrists. I was not on a path to success.

There was no overnight miracle when I started school there, but slowly, things changed. I learned about honor, code, and service. I started to take an interest in campus life, academics, and leadership positions — and I rose up the ranks and became a first captain in command of around 800 cadets.

After graduation, I went on to study at Johns Hopkins and Oxford, deployed to Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne Division, ran one of the largest poverty-fighting organizations in the country, and now, I serve as the 63rd governor of Maryland and the first Black governor in the history of my state.

What saddens me most isn’t losing a place I once called home. My memories will forever live on with me.

It saddens me that other young men like me will have one fewer avenue to challenge themselves and build their own pathway to success.

At a time where our young men and boys are falling behind and feeling isolated, we have to offer more paths for connection and engagement.

I know Valley Forge Military Academy did that for me, and I’m determined to find ways to do that for young Marylanders today.

That includes the Maryland Corps and Service Year Option — the first statewide program in the country to give high school graduates a year of paid, full-time community service on the path to college or a career.

We have to help young Marylanders find the thing that guides them on a pathway to success and that inspires them to serve. If you support that mission, I would appreciate a donation to keep me in the fight as Maryland's governor today.

Ben Meiselas and MeidasTouch Network Mar 7 I had the privilege of speaking with Maryland Governor Wes Moore, and let me tell you—this conversation is a must-watch. Trump and his regime are trying to gaslight us into thinking the economic chaos they’ve unleashed is just a “detox.” But Governor Moore shut that down fast. “This isn’t detox. This is destruction,” Moore said. And who’s bearing the brunt of it? The very people who have dedicated their lives to public service—our veterans, our first responders, our federal employees. These are the people Trump and his cronies are targeting, calling them “non-essential” while gutting their jobs and cutting the very services they provide. It’s all part of a pattern. Trump’s entire presidency—hell, his entire life—has been about punching down. He goes after marginalized communities, disrespects our allies, and now, he’s making sure veterans don’t get the benefits they earned. He called them “suckers and losers” before, and now he’s proving just how much he meant it by slashing 70,000 VA jobs. Governor Moore, a veteran himself, had no patience for this cowardice. “Hearing that come from somebody who was never willing to take that oath is very rich—and, as a veteran myself, very offensive.” And let’s talk about Trump’s so-called strength. Moore put it perfectly: bullies like Trump project toughness, but deep down, they’re weak. The past 60 days of his second term have been nothing but a parade of weakness—whether it’s his pathetic attempts to intimidate governors or his desperate need to please actual strongmen like Putin. Moore also exposed the farce of Trump’s so-called “efficiency” in government. While Trump lets Elon Musk call the shots behind the scenes, Governor Moore is actually making government work—cutting waste in Maryland without gutting services or breaking the law. Contrast that with Trump’s reality: erratic policies that destabilize markets, performative cruelty, and incoherent ramblings when asked even basic questions about the economy. At the end of our conversation, I asked Governor Moore what message he’d send to Trump’s people watching. His response? There’s a difference between disruption and destruction. The casualties of Trump’s chaos aren’t just bureaucratic reshuffling—they’re real people, real lives, real futures. The nation sent PATRIOTS to combat zones where they were exposed to TOXIC CHEMICALS, BURN PITS, EXPLOSIVE DEVICES....some suffered disabling injuries...others suffered injuries that would not manifest for many years....

As we know, President Biden's son developed BRAIN CANCER as a consequence of his service. 

Senator Tammy Duckworth suffered catastrophic injuries. 

Recently in a VA Hospital, we met someone we had known years ago who has metastatic cancer from exposure in VIETNAM. 

An acquaintance has suffered from exposure to AGENT ORANGE & has 2 sons impaired as a consequence. 

A friend has a profound hearing loss from exploding ordinance without ear protection, as well as other health issues. 

Some are in wheelchairs. Some live with constant pain. This is our obligation to care for them! 

Because their 'conditions' or 'illnesses' are specific to their service exposure, they need specialized care at a facility that has done the research to care for those issues. 

NO CIVILIAN FACILITY CAN CARE FOR VETERANS AS WELL BECAUSE THEY LACK THE EXPERIENCE! 

In order to care for these injuries, the VA has conducted a great deal of research that, I understand recently became inaccessible for unknown reasons.

Thank you Gov. Moore for explaining MARYLAND's efficiency!

Never mind the BRAIN DEAD who fired NUCLEAR WORKERS. 

Firing scientists tracking BIRD FLU, MEASLES or the foreign workers monitoring EBOLA?
