Last night, we took back our country.
I am beyond fired up. Democrats won the House and Senate. It wasn’t just a blue tsunami—it was a legendary defeat of Trump and every abhorrent thing he stands for.
I’ve had a lot of election nights since 2003, but I’ve never had one like that. Texas elected a Democrat to the Senate for the first time since 1988, and Kansas did it for the first time since 1932. South Carolina threw out a senator Trump flew in multiple times to save. The man in charge of protecting GOP House seats lost his own. So many huge upsets.

Two years ago when we lost, I said I would refuse to give Trump an inch, and that’s exactly what we did. So many of you stood with me. You shared our posts and hashtags. You contacted Congress. You drove your neighbors to vote. You fought, and refused to go down quietly. Last night was yours.
The Trump regime and corporate media spent the last two years saying our work was a wasted effort. They counted on us staying home and being too tired. We got up, we got our neighbors, and we went and voted. We proved every one of them wrong. Egg, meet face.
Now that we won, here’s what I pledge to you.
I’ll never stop digging into Trump and the crooks around him. And we won’t give a new Democratic majority any days off. We didn’t elect them to smile for the cameras. This new Congress must be a force to be reckoned with. Subpoenas. Investigations. Impeachments. That’s what we expect from a new House and Senate. A new level of fight every minute of every day. And we will hold them to that.
Trump has 60 days left with a Congress that won’t ask him a thing, and he knows it. He’ll try to grab everything he can, but we’ll be right there fighting back.
For two years we relentlessly worked with no days off, as our Watchdog Coalition brought the fire to Trump and the Republicans who covered for him. The most interesting thing for me yesterday, while running 2 precincts, was how well-behaved all the voters were. In the previous few elections the local magas were uniformly belligerent and in-one's-face. Not yesterday. We had record voter attendance and everybody was polite and kind. Plus we had a few first-time voters - 2 18-year-olds, and 1 40-ish Latino gentleman. All were applauded and congratulated. It was a long, but ultimately rewarding day. And we sure are happy about the results! Now the real work begins. #BlueWave #DontbeComplacent
What a night. What a new day. Hope restored.
I have never been more optimistic about the power of this democracy. Never more excited about the opportunity to reshape the political order for good.

We didn’t give Trump and inch, but some Dem leadership certainly did. We aren’t going to tolerate ANY of that now. We will bend them. We aren’t going back to the 1990s. We’re going to change this country for good.

Now would be the time for Republican members of congress to find something resembling a spine. They can rid themselves of Trump by joining with the Democrats to remove him from office.

Reckoning - We Almost Lost Our Country
My thoughts:
1. Americans woke up and exercised their constitutional rights. Democracy is alive! We had to save ourselves. Let’s keep it growing.
2. At 13, trump’s parents sent him to military school due to behavioral problems. Those behaviors never changed. Voters sent him to the boneyard with his bone spurs intact.
3. Vacation is over! Congress is going to be working for their money this next term!
4. Kudos and thanks to independent media, substack, Meidas Touch Network, YouTube, for bringing us real news and investigative journalism. We could not have done this without you! The truth is buried at FOX.
5. Thanks to all of our allies for continuing to support US citizens, all while being abused by a MAGA president, MAGA congress, and MAGA billionaires. Your support kept us going. Thanks to Ukraine, Canada, Mexico, Denmark, Greenland, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, England, Scotland, Wales, the entire EU and so many more. Thank you.

I was watching MSNOW. Went to bed at 1a after Blue won House and Senate. I whooped, clapped, laughed, and threw my fists up and shouted, YES!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!🌊🗳💙
Apart from my own local contests, I'm most excited that people from new constituencies are being trusted and approved. The first Native American governor. The first Black woman governor. The first Muslim Senator. America is living into its principles.
Now the work begins.
So exhausted but so happy. While still work to do I hope we can look forward to two years of less chaos, less anxiety, more healing of rifts, more accountability and definitely more policies to support everyday working people.
Others have said this, but it's worth repeating: It took ALL of us to make happen what happened last night. I am beyond thrilled! I thank Scott, Sam, all those who support their work, and the other Substack writers who helped lead the way for this to happen. Perhaps most importantly, a huge thank you to all the voters who showed up and said with their votes: "We are tired of the damage the Republican party has caused our country. No more of the "free ride" for President tRUMP. Now, the real work of governing begins in January.
Scott, today I am spending celebrating!! I didn't get what I wanted in Florida; however, I am celebrating all of those victories we did get! I am happy that we did get a majority in the Florida state House. I won't stop working to get more democrats elected in Florida even though this state is swimming in magas! Thank you, Scott, for all of the hard work you have put in!! Keep those posts coming because I depend on you as well as other substacks, 1440 and Grounded to keep me truthfully informed!! Congratulations, America!!
Peggy, I asked Scott this morning if he would do a Zoom meeting for his community to celebrate our BLUE win and I am waiting for him to get back to me!! Maybe they should recount the Senator votes in Florida because it was so close? Enjoy your happy day!
