ICYMI: My first debate against John Sununu

What he won’t say on stage vs. what he says behind closed doors.

It’s Chris.

At our first debate on Tuesday, the moderator asked John Sununu a simple question: What is your specific proposal for saving Social Security? Here’s what he said:

He won’t say what his plan is because he knows how deeply unpopular it is. But Granite Staters know the truth: John Sununu was a leading architect of the scheme to privatize Social Security. Then at an AARP forum with Granite Staters, he would only say his old plan doesn’t fit today’s needs.

My answer is simple. People pay into Social Security their whole working lives, and they deserve to know it’ll be there when they retire. I’ll oppose any cuts to benefits, and I won’t tell anyone they have to work longer to get what they’ve already earned.

That wasn’t the only question Sununu dodged. When he was asked whether he would have voted to confirm Pete Hegseth, RFK Jr., and Kristi Noem, he said:

“I wouldn’t have voted for all three of those, and I’m not going to litigate each one of them.”

So he would have confirmed at least some of them, and he won’t tell you which ones. Hegseth was confirmed by a single tie-breaking vote. In the Senate one vote can decide who runs the Pentagon. Now the so-called Secretary of War almost livestreamed an execution. That madness could have been stopped by one Senator. But Sununu won’t tell us whether or not it would have been him.

This is the same John Sununu who cheered on Trump’s war in Iran, calling it a success. That war has sent New Hampshire’s energy prices to record highs. I’ve voted to end it, and I’ll keep fighting to rein it in.

And behind closed doors, John Sununu was caught on camera saying the quiet part out loud. He said this race “is important to President Trump’s agenda and to the successes that have been made in Washington.”

That’s who he’d be working for. He has Donald Trump’s endorsement and tens of millions of dollars in outside Republican money behind him. With 15 days until Election Day, they’re betting New Hampshire voters won’t notice what he refuses to say in public.

We’re going to make sure they do. But I need your help to keep our message on the air.

Thank you for being in this with me,

Chris

Before you go!

John Sununu’s megadonors have funneled over $60 million to flood the New Hampshire airwaves and drown out our message.

We can’t let Republicans buy this seat — our shot at a Democratic Senate majority depends on keeping the Granite State blue.

Will you chip in whatever you’re able to today to ensure we have the resources to fight back, elect Chris, and flip the Senate in just 15 days?
