Who should decide Virginia's energy future: the people of Virginia—or out-of-state corporate executives?
That's the question at the heart of a proposed takeover that could affect utility bills, local communities, and our Commonwealth for decades to come.
Today, I'm launching the Energy Costs Listening Tour because Virginians deserve more than headlines and closed-door negotiations. They deserve answers and transparency. And they deserve a real opportunity to be heard before decisions of this magnitude are made.
Over the coming weeks, I'll be traveling to Loudoun, Hampton Roads, Richmond, Charlottesville, and Roanoke to bring together local elected officials, energy experts, and community members for open conversations about the proposed Dominion Energy–NextEra Energy acquisition.
This is one of the largest proposed utility acquisitions in our nation's history, yet current law gives state regulators just six months to complete their review. That's not enough time for a decision that could reshape Virginia's electric system for generations.
These conversations are about people — not politics. They're about understanding what this proposal could mean for your monthly utility bill, your community, our economy, and Virginia's long-term energy future. Most importantly, my priority is making sure your voice is part of the conversation before any final decision is made.
I hope you'll join me at a stop on the Energy Costs Listening Tour. Ask questions. Share your concerns. Tell us what matters most to you and your family.
