Bogus charges dropped against ex-Olympian over Reflecting Pool damage after Trump admin admits botched installation
The Trump regime finally gave up its pathetic bid to pin its own stunning incompetence and botched Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool renovations on a 67-year-old former US Olympian yesterday.

After the prosecution's sole witness corroborated Olympian canoeist David Hearn's account and completely undercut the government's case, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro was forced to finally admit the obvious weeks after the fact: "The rush to complete the project led to hasty and botched work that was not remediated before the project was finished and the fencing removed."

Pirro's statement ID'd a new scapegoat, of course: Sec. Doug Burgum's Dept. of the Interior, which "provided less than fulsome information at the outset of this case," according to Pirro's filing. It was not until after the indictment was filed that officials determined the "damage was the result of a botched installation and not vandalism," the filing states. How convenient.

Trump and Pirro repeatedly accused "vandals" of "violently" attacking the Reflecting Pool and causing millions of dollars in damages, and zeroed in on Hearn, slapping him with felony charges that carried a maximum prison sentence of ten years if convicted.

But sure, it's Democrats who weaponize the government against others. Expect a civil suit from Hearn any day now. He should take these swamp creatures to the cleaners.

During a Cabinet meeting at Camp David yesterday, America's grifter-in-chief gave his staff a fresh new fire to put out just in time for the weekend. When asked by a reporter why his administration will not simply put in writing that the $1.776 billion insurrection slush fund is officially dead — as holdout GOP senators have requested before agreeing to advance Todd Blanche's attorney general confirmation — Trump responded: "Well, it is dead, but I wish it weren't, to be honest with you."

Donald just can't quit his nakedly corrupt and universally loathed grift, and it's hurting his approval rating, his party's electoral prospects in November, and Blanche's bid to drop the "acting" from his attorney general title. Some habits die hard. Others go with you to the grave. Pretty sure we know where this one stands.

Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno isn't willing to take a stand on the political future of the guy who allegedly held a gun to his daughter’s head and broke his granddaughter's collarbone. NOTUS asked Moreno Friday whether Republicans should move to replace Representative Max Miller on Ohio’s ballot, after gruesome allegations surfaced that he had physically abused his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, and their toddler daughter.

“I don’t know,” the senator told NOTUS. A truly stunning addition to the GOP's voluminous profiles in cowardice.

ICE accused of neglect after 29-year-old man dies in its custody

ICE has been accused of leaving a young detainee to cough up blood for weeks while denying him medication before his death from aggressive leukemia. Mexican-born Prisciliano Trejo Ricano, 29, was brought to America at age 3. He was picked up in the Durham, North Carolina, area, where he lived, on June 19, and shipped more than 400 miles to the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia. The lockup, which is run by private prison giant CoreCivic, has been described as one of the most deadly in the United States after 15 other detainees died.

Trejo, known to loved ones as Yanito, died around a month later, on Friday, July 24, at a hospital in Augusta, Georgia. Trejo asked for medical care on July 6, according to a Detention Watch Network statement, but was not taken to a hospital until July 13. Two days later, the group says, he was in a coma.

On July 16, his lawyer rang with the news he was in intensive care. Relatives drove four to five hours to reach him — only to be stopped at the door, because he remained in ICE custody. His lawyers negotiated his release, and doctors delivered the diagnosis as acute leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. ICE cut Trejo loose that same day — and says that ended its responsibility.

Vivek Ramaswamy’s awkward campaign speech ends in just minutes as he’s booed and heckled

Ohio Republican gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy cut short a campaign speech after being viciously heckled and jeered by members of a libertarian student group. The failed 2024 presidential candidate was greeted with loud boos even before taking the stage at a Young Americans for Liberty conference at Cincinnati's Xavier University, according to a video posted on social media.

Things got even worse after Ramaswamy, a billionaire biotech investor, told the audience in his hometown Wednesday that the "people in my generation have already made it" and that their generation would be the one "that pays the price."

The comment ignited the crowd, with one person shouting, "We don’t want to hear your bullshit talking points," <>The Daily Beast reported. "You’re a political cretin and you need to get the fuck outta here!" the heckler added. Better luck at the next stop, Vivek!
