Common Dreams is entirely funded by small-dollar donations from readers. We don't take a dime of corporate advertising money. We don't put our journalism behind a paywall.
That's how we've stayed in operation for more than 25 years — and it's what gives us the editorial independence to stand up to authoritarians and oligarchs while for-profit media outlets with infinitely more resources bend the knee.
But the cold, hard reality is that we need to raise $125,000 by August 31 to keep our nonprofit newsroom in operation.
We understand that for many of our readers, times are tough and even a small donation is a burden. You'll never have to explain that to us. But please understand that no donation is too small. If everyone does what they can, helping support the value we bring to your life and how you get your information each day and week, that's what makes this work.
We have just eight days left to meet this urgent fundraising target — or else we'll face truly painful choices. That's not a gimmick; that's just the way it is.
We're counting on you. There's no plan B. Please pitch in whatever you can — whether that's $5, $27, $100, or more — and support Common Dreams' independent nonprofit journalism.
