 More than 700,000 seniors could soon lose access to nutritious monthly food boxes if Congress allows the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) to be eliminated in next year’s appropriations bill.

As grocery prices, housing costs and medical expenses continue to rise, cutting CSFP now would be devastating for older adults trying to make ends meet. Tell Congress: Fully fund CSFP in the next fiscal year to help seniors get the food we all need to thrive!

TAKE ACTION: 700,000 seniors at risk of losing food assistance.

The proposed federal budget for next year could reduce food support for seniors by cutting the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP).

That includes seniors like Mariela, who receives monthly CSFP food boxes containing foods like rice, beans and pasta at her retirement community in Florida.

CSFP provides consistent access to healthy staples to more than 700,000 seniors. The food boxes are specifically designed to supplement nutrients often missing from seniors’ diets, to reduce the risk of hospitalization and nursing home placement—helping seniors stay independent.

Some communities even deliver the packages directly to program participants’ homes, which is especially important when people have limited mobility or limited transportation options. Eliminating CSFP means eliminating these critical supports.

Tell Congress: Help seniors by protecting and fully funding CSFP!

Many of the seniors who received CSFP food have worked their entire lives. Now that they’re on a fixed income, sky-high food prices are putting groceries out of reach.

Ending senior hunger will take all of us working together—you, me, our communities and the federal government.

Congress must do its part. Tell your elected officials: Protect and fully fund CSFP so seniors can access the nutritious food they need.
