This Great News Ruined Trump’s Weekend and I’m Here For It
Hochul and Pritzker deliver major losses to Trump, Virginia Dems strike back on redistricting, a huge anti-ICE protest in Utah, and the racist regime implodes
I’m glad you’re here for today’s news brief. Corporate media won’t cover these stories the way we do—honestly, with no advertisers or billionaires holding us back.
We show you Trump’s chaos AND the resistance rising to stop it every single day. We run massive social media campaigns to fight MAGA lies, and have mobilized 600,000 direct contacts to Congress to keep the pressure on.

TRUMP HAS ALWAYS BEEN RACIST
When I saw Trump’s racist post about the Obamas, I wasn’t surprised. But I will never let it become something that is normalized. I was proud to work for Obama, especially at his 2009 Inaugural Committee, standing next to him the day he was sworn in. Trump’s always been a racist, and always will be. The video he has now deleted is just more proof.
Republicans condemned it in the weakest way—like GOP Sen. Tim Scott, who called it “the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House.” But true condemnation of this garbage would be supporting Trump’s removal from office. Anything less is just more empty thoughts and prayers.
There was genuine outrage, like that from House Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who didn’t hold back: “F**k Donald Trump and his vile, racist, and malignant behavior. This guy is an unhinged bottom feeder.” And Dem Rep. Jamie Raskin said anyone involved in posting it should be fired immediately, declaring, “not one more tax dollar for this filth.”
Trump’s excuse—that he didn’t see the racist part of the video—is complete nonsense. This wasn’t an accident. It was intentional racist hatred made to distract from Trump’s rampant corruption and his name appearing in the Epstein files thousands of times. Moving on.
OF COURSE HE WAS
More Epstein files released this week revealed a bombshell that Trump Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick did business with Epstein. That means Lutnick lied when saying he had zero interactions with Epstein after 2005. We need to know what else Lutnick has lied about.
The timing of this newest revelation is horrible for the Trump regime, as the DOJ already said it will let members of Congress have unredacted access to the Epstein files starting tomorrow. This means congressional investigators will see everything.
We won’t stop until every one of Epstein’s accomplices faces real accountability: prison time.
TRUMP LOSES IN COURT
While Trump was “busy” posting racist garbage and trying to bury the Epstein files, he was also losing big in federal courts. A federal judge ordered funding to be restored for the Gateway Tunnel project connecting New York to New Jersey. It’s the largest infrastructure project in the country—which Trump had illegally stopped while laying off hundreds of workers.
NY Gov. Kathy Hochul responded: “Trump loses. New Yorkers win. Again.” Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said while Trump is “out of control,” the court win proves that “political pressure still works, and we can use our voices to make sure he doesn’t have the last word.”
Gov. JB Pritzker also announced this week that “Trump just lost in court again to Illinois,” after a judge blocked Trump from denying child care funds for Illinois families. “He’s never had the right to withhold child care funds for Illinoisans,” Pritzker said. These wins prove that when we actually fight back, we win.
PROTEST AGAINST ICE IN … (CHECKS NOTES) … UTAH
Students across Utah walked out of their classrooms this week to protest ICE’s reign of terror in our communities. One of my favorite signs read: “Skipping my lesson to teach you one.” Brilliant.
The grassroots organizing extends far beyond folks protesting on our streets. More than 200,000 people participated in the first-ever “Eyes on ICE” virtual training to learn how to safely and legally monitor any actions by Trump’s abusive federal agents.
All great signs showing that momentum is truly on our side.
VIRGINIA MOVES FORWARD WITH REDISTRICTING
More great news for Democrats—Virginia is moving forward with a new congressional map before the 2026 midterms that could turn up to three US House seats blue.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez laid out why this fight is so important: “This most recent election for the House, in many ways, was stolen by the Republican majority. They have a three-seat majority in the House. Those three seats were gerrymandered out of North Carolina last cycle. That is why I am so glad we fought back in California and Virginia to even the field.”
AOC also slammed the Trump regime’s plans for a national voter database, calling it “a violation of our civil liberties,” adding: “I do not believe we should be giving government contracts to companies like Palantir.”
The fighting spirit coming from AOC isn’t just refreshing, it’s a roadmap. While Trump posts racist filth, and he and his cabinet get exposed in the Epstein files, the resistance is building real power.
We’ve been in this fight since 2016—and we’re not stopping now. While corporate media normalizes fascism, and billionaires buy newsrooms to kill stories, we are here to document the protests, court wins, and every moment of resistance that proves we are winning.
Last year, our work generated billions of impressions taking on MAGA lies and drove half a million contacts to Congress. This year, we’re expanding all of it. But our work needs fuel to keep us going. So upgrade to a paid subscription today to support our fight against Trump and keep up our momentum:

This from THE DOWN BALLOT:
excerpts:
Democrats successfully defended a conservative seat in rural Louisiana on Saturday night, as Chasity Martinez defeated Republican Brad Daigle by a dominant 62-38 margin—a massive 37-point overperformance compared to the 2024 presidential result.
According to calculations by The Downballot, Donald Trump carried the 60th by a 56-43 margin in 2024, giving the GOP a real opening. Daigle, an insurance agent, further argued that the district would be better served by electing a member who would join the Republican supermajority in the legislature.
Louisiana Republicans will retain their wide advantage in the state House, but Martinez’s victory means that the GOP will still be empty-handed when it comes to flipping legislative seats.
Since Trump returned to the White House, Democrats have picked up eight Republican-controlled districts through special elections, as well as 18 seats in New Jersey and Virginia during those states’ regularly scheduled contests last November. Republicans have flipped none.

ICE GESTAPO NEEDS TO BE STOPPED!
FROM DEMOCRACY LABS:
Susan Tincher public testimony about ICE brutality
https://youtu.be/X1_usnRR3uU?si=JBn1nGQrLmDjp9x_
“I feel afraid. Only hours have passed since they shot a man right in front of me, and I don’t feel like I can go home because I heard agents were looking for me. I don’t know what the agents will do when they find me. I do know that they’re not telling the truth about what happened.”
Read those words again.
“I feel afraid… I don’t feel like I can go home… they’re not telling the truth.”
These are the words of the woman in the pink jacket. Yesterday, she stood feet away as ICE agents assaulted, then murdered, Alex Pretti.
She’s afraid. She may be in hiding.
Hers is not the lone voice of truth shouting in the darkness. In the file that contained her testimony about yesterday’s events are dozens of others, dating back to December 17, 2025. They are a part of a lawsuit, Tincher v. Noem, challenging ICE violence and misconduct towards Minnesotans.
They recount stories of cruelty, abuse of power, and terror. In their own words, people describe being yanked from their cars, cuffed, threatened, and shoved. Vehicles are weaponized. Guns are brandished. One shares the words an ICE agent spoke to them: “You don’t look like you could be more than 18 years old. Is this how you want to die? With a fucking bullet in your skull?”
In another, a bystander tells of a pregnant woman being harmed. “Suddenly, the agent kneeling on the woman’s back decided to drag her by the hand to his car.”
Yesterday, a physician described their interaction with ICE at the scene of Alex Pretti’s murder. They offered to render aid to him as he lay on the street. They wrote, “At first, the ICE agents wouldn’t let me through… none of the ICE agents who were near the victim were performing CPR.”
Instead of letting them through, the healthcare professional alleges that agents repeatedly demanded their physician’s license. When at last they were permitted to approach him, they asked whether he had a pulse. The agents didn’t know. Rather than perform CPR or check for signs of life, ICE appeared to count the bullet holes.
The words of this physician mirror the care, or lack thereof, given to Renee Good. A video shot from the house directly next to the site of the crash tells a story of neglect. In it, you can catch a glimpse of Renee. The wound to her head is visible. There is no dressing, no attempt to stop the bleeding. While a physician begs to treat her, Renee sits alone, unattended, for over two minutes. Two minutes without potentially lifesaving care. While a swarm of agents barricade a doctor, she sat alone.
If this is not neglect, what is?
After reading through a few dozen affidavits, patterns emerge. Several witnesses wrote that ICE appeared to be “egging the crowd on.” They spoke of threats, verbal and physical. Guns drawn in the absence of hostility—used as a tactic to instill compliance. Physical aggression toward observers was common.
The rhetoric is that the protesters are violent. The record dissents. Standing isn’t assault. Filming isn’t a threat. Defiance is not harm. The people are not the violent ones.
However… shoving is assault.
A barrel of a weapon aimed at bodes is a threat.
Bruising from cuffs is harm.
They claim they are there to protect. They don’t. They pretend to deliver safety. Since when did safety look like abuse?
“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” George Orwell wrote these words in his novel 1984. It ought to have been titled 2026.
Silence is compliance. We must listen. We must watch. We must read. We must speak.
Noise is dissent. It’s time to get loud. Get loud at home, at protests, at council meetings, at work. Get loud everywhere.
