Senate Republicans are caving to Trump and preparing to pass a bill that could block tens of millions of eligible Americans from voting. And before we get into the details of just how harmful this bill could be, we need to ask if you can help us take action. Contact your Senator today and tell them to vote NO on the SAVE Act. The SAVE Act is a modern-day poll tax and a massive voter suppression bill that would require showing expensive government documents in person to register to vote — documents that 21 million American citizens don’t have easy access to. The bill also opens the door to harmful voter purges and could inevitably remove American citizens who have the right to vote from voter rolls. SAY NO to the SAVE ACT The bill is so unprecedented that Republican Senators are discussing changing the filibuster — a decades-old Senate rule that requires 60 votes for a bill to pass — just to move it forward. For decades during the Jim Crow era, segregationist politicians used the filibuster to block civil and voting rights protections. Now, Republicans may change the rules to create a loophole so they can force a vote on the SAVE Act. If your vote didn’t matter, they wouldn’t be this desperate to block it.
