MIDDLEBORO REVIEW AND SO ON

Next month, Tyson Foods is planning to close one of the largest beef-processing plants in the country, at a time when beef prices are already soaring. This closure doesn’t just mean 3,000 workers will be laid off. It means prices will rise anywhere that serves beef, from McDonald’s to Whole Foods. We’re planning an investigative trip to Lexington, Nebraska to spotlight the people who are standing up for their town in the face of callous corporate greed. Can you help us give voice to the people standing up to this billion-dollar corporation? Chip in $5 today! This is bigger than any one factory, or any one town. When More Perfect Union started publishing videos, we were on the ground with union organizers at an Amazon warehouse in Bessemer, Alabama. Starbucks workers in Buffalo, New York saw our videos, got organized, and founded Starbucks Workers United, which has now won union elections in more than 600 stores around the country. Too much journalism gives voice to the powerful, and in doing so makes us feel powerless. More Perfect Union is different. We tell stories of working class people claiming their own power, and those stories are seen by millions. Nothing we do is cheap. It costs thousands of dollars to send our team of journalists and videographers to cover the fight of working people. But it’s worth it and it matters. Chip in to send our Emmy-winning journalists to Nebraska to profile people trying to save their town from Tyson Foods! In solidarity, -Faiz Faiz Shakir, Co-founder More Perfect Union |
