This country saved my life by granting my family and I refugee status - and now, I’m running for Congress to DEFEAT Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans who are attacking our freedoms. My parents, both Vietnamese and Chinese, risked everything after my father fought alongside American troops during the Vietnam War. We fled persecution and were granted asylum in the early 1990s. We arrived with nothing, but were welcomed with hope and opportunity. America saved our lives. Illinois gave me a home. I’ve carried that gratitude every day of my life.
