Thank you for taking the time to email your state representative about H.4744. Your advocacy, along with voices from across the Commonwealth, helped push lawmakers to pause the bill before recess.
This was the right call. As written, H.4744 included provisions that would have increased energy costs, slowed clean energy progress, and undermined local climate leadership. At the same time, it contained positive steps forward for solar and other clean-energy measures. Pausing the bill gives legislators the opportunity to go back to the drawing board, keep the good, and fix what was harmful.
Massachusetts can and must deliver real affordability for families and that starts with proven clean energy solutions. Communities deserve lasting, equitable progress driven by expanded access to solar, stronger building efficiency, and a modernized, more resilient grid. Those are the kinds of approaches that actually lower bills and strengthen our clean-energy future.
The House’s decision not to move forward with H.4744 opens the door for a better bill next session, one that centers affordability, protects our climate commitments, and keeps Massachusetts on track as a national leader in clean, reliable, community-powered energy.
Thank you again for raising your voice. When constituents speak up, lawmakers listen and this week’s outcome reflects that. I look forward to working with you next session to help shape policy that truly delivers for Massachusetts families.
Onward,
Lindsay + the Vote Solar Team
