They Tried to Come For Us and FAILED AGAIN!!By Ben Meiselas I’ll keep this short. But this is important. The Trump regime, corporate news, so-called fact-checkers, Fox, and others ganged up on us this weekend—and failed miserably. They demanded we retract our story that Trump was having the Marines fire live munitions over the I-5 highway into Camp Pendleton on the same day as No Kings this Saturday and that it would shut down the highway. The Marines issued a statement claiming they were not firing live munitions over the highway. Trump’s press team called us fake news. Then, the popular fact-checking site Snopes essentially called our reporting bogus and used Trump’s statements attacking us as their authoritative source to say we were full of it. It turns out our reporting was spot on. Not only that, but on Sunday the California Highway Patrol announced that their vehicles were hit with shrapnel from the munitions fired over the highway. Had the highway not been shut down by Governor Newsom, people driving on the highway could have been killed by the falling shrapnel. I understand that Trump’s conduct is so horrible it can be hard to believe sometimes. However, I implore all media and fact-checkers like Snopes to stop regurgitating the lies from the regime and reporting them as fact. The Trump regime lies in everything they do. There was a major effort this weekend to discredit us and our reporting. Lots of people were demanding we retract our story. We refused to retract. We refused to apologize. We stood by our good reporting and our impeccable sourcing, and we showed that independent media is doing what corporate news has failed to do. This was a historic weekend for independent news. It was a historic weekend for the resistance standing up to Trump in the largest peaceful protests in American history. The resistance will grow stronger and Trump will grow weaker. We’ve got this!
