No Kings protests rattle MAGA as US approaches failed state
The David Pakman Show
excerpts:
Trump’s physical decline was also apparent during a recent Oval Office event, where he appeared exhausted, slurred his speech, and sat down mid-event. His swollen appearance and incoherent delivery marked a troubling new level of deterioration.
Katherine Boyle, a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, is an under-the-radar force in MAGA politics. She connects Silicon Valley to Trump-aligned forces through the American Dynamism Fund, promoting nationalist, militaristic, and Christian nationalist ideology under the guise of “patriotic investing.”
Trump’s Air Force One outburst illustrated an authoritarian mindset where “what I say goes.” He unilaterally declared the Hudson River tunnel funding terminated, suggested Ukraine let Russia keep seized territory, misrepresented economic data, defended a deal harming American farmers, dismissed 7 million peaceful protesters as “whacked out,” and appeared uninformed about Israel’s military actions. The episode highlighted a delusional, isolated leader obsessed with personal power and terrified by mass opposition.
Finally, the U.S. shows signs of systemic failure, with crumbling infrastructure, unsafe water, tent cities, teacher shortages, and declining life expectancy. Social cohesion is eroding, wealth is concentrated, and Americans struggle to agree on basic facts. Trump is symptomatic of these issues, and while the No Kings protests are encouraging, the country faces a choice between confronting decline or ignoring it.
