Last week I met with workers up and down the east coast on our “It’s Better in a Union” bus tour––rallying with folks across our movement at United Steelworkers headquarters in Pittsburgh, then heading to Atlanta to demand an economy that puts workers over billionaires. Before leaving Georgia, I joined workers from Delta organizing at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport with the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers Union, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, UNITE HERE and the Service Employees International Union to deliver a clear message: The entire labor movement has your back. From steel mills to Waffle House counters and airport terminals, workers are rising up to take our power back from billionaire CEOs and the politicians who bow down to them.
The heat wave that hit the country had nothing on the heat that workers brought to our weekend of action. In St. Louis, workers flooded Rep. Ann Wagner's Office to make sure she knew we will hold her accountable for voting to cut Medicaid and the VA in Trump’s new budget. And in Louisville we rallied with UAW members fighting for their first fair contract at BlueOval SK. It seems like the summer is going by so quickly because it’s just over a month until Labor Day, when we’re going to have our big week of action! Working people in every community—hundreds of thousands in total—will come together at grassroots events. So please join the Meidas Mighty and us for Workers Labor Day!!! |
