A veteran’s take on Trump, Putin, and how we answer it
After meeting Putin in Alaska this weekend, Trump dumped the cease-fire demand, paused penalties, and endorsed ceding the remaining Donbas to Russia, including territory it does not hold.
In short: the coward-in-chief served Ukraine up on a platter for his bestie Vladimir.
I spent 24 years in uniform with multiple combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have led soldiers under fire and worked with allies fighting for their survival.
That experience is why I am writing now: to draw a line and hold it.
This move rewards invasion, sidelines Ukraine, splits us from Europe, and puts American credibility on the chopping block.
Any one that has put on the uniform can tell you what happens when a bully is fed what they want.
They come back for a second course.
Ceding land to an aggressor lights a beacon for every damn autocrat with a map and a grudge. Borders start to bleed and global deterrence against tyrannical rule rots.
The price is paid later in body bags and a more dangerous world for American families.
