Trump's Nightmare Week: Fallout From Epstein. Obama Responds. GOP Meltdown. Onward! Scott Dworkin As Trump continues to melt down under the spotlight shining on his close ties to Epstein, I’m thrilled to have more great news for you. Let’s start with something funny today. On Stephen Colbert’s late-night show, they had a kiss-cam gag, playing off the whole cheating-CEO fiasco at a recent Coldplay concert. Who was caught this time? An animated Trump, cuddling with the Paramount logo. PBS News Hour, despite losing massive amounts of funding due to Trump, made it clear they’re “not going anywhere. We will continue our work without fear or favor, as we have for nearly five decades on the air.” Great to hear. Around 336 NASA scientists and staff signed on to an open letter called the “Voyager Declaration,” blasting Trump’s cuts to the agency. The letter reads: “These cuts are arbitrary and have been enacted in defiance of congressional appropriations law. The consequences for the agency and the country alike are dire.” A group of more than 20 attorneys general are suing the Trump regime to “stop its unlawful attempt to gut … programs for low-income families,” a statement read. NY AG Letitia James declared: “This is a baseless attack on some of our country’s most effective and inclusive public programs, and we will not let it stand.” Federal judges rejected maga diehard Alina Habba for the permanent role of US Attorney for NJ. When her first assistant Desiree Leigh Grace was selected by the judges instead, the DOJ promptly fired her. Another act of corruption by the Trump regime. But I’m glad Habba’s out—at least for now. GOP Rep. Thomas Massie tried to force a vote on his Epstein Files Transparency Act, which would mandate the public release of the Epstein files. In response, Speaker Mike Johnson let the House go home for August recess. Johnson hopes people will forget about Trump’s ties with Epstein a month from now. We won’t let them. Dem Rep. Jasmine Crockett said it best: “Republicans stay screaming about law & order…But won’t release the Epstein files. They sit up here posting conspiracy theories all day…But won’t release the Epstein files. They’re quick to call a hearing or launch an investigation on some BS…But (say it with me) won’t release the Epstein files.” And in a pathetic attempt to distract us from the Trump-Epstein scandal, DNI Tulsi Gabbard is spreading ridiculous and unfounded accusations about former President Barack Obama. Gabbard is lying, acting like Obama perpetrated a hoax regarding Russian influence on the 2016 election. As someone who spent years investigating everything surrounding Trump and Russia, I can confirm that the only hoax here, is the one Trump and Gabbard are trying to sell. Obama’s office issued a rare rebuke to the bogus claims, saying they don’t “normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response. But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one. These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction.” “Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election … These findings were affirmed in a 2020 report by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, led by then-Chairman Marco Rubio,” Obama’s office said. Former federal judge and noted conservative J. Michael Luttig recently warned: “Never before in the Nation’s almost 250 year history has America’s present and future depended more on the free press than it does today.” Luttig is absolutely right. Unfortunately, we can’t count on corporate media to spark the revolution in journalism that we need. It’s going to come from independent outlets like ours.
