Trump is hosting Netanyahu at the White House today1 while Israel bombs Gaza and continues its murder of innocent Palestinians.
The U.S. has supported Israel’s siege of Gaza even as Israel massacres people and blocks humanitarian aid to starving children. What is being called a genocide by Amnesty International and UN experts must not continue with the support of Congress and our tax dollars.
The Block the Bombs Act would stop the flow of weapons to Israel while Netanyahu continues killing civilians and breaking international law. Rep. Delia Ramirez, a lead sponsor of the bill, said, “Netanyahu and Trump are a lethal, unaccountable, extremist duo.”2 Congress must act and stop supporting the atrocities against the Palestinian people.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal, one of the lead sponsors of the bill said, “We can no longer be complicit and allow our tax dollars to facilitate this violence and destruction.”3
Rep. Ramirez added, “Trump has bypassed Congressional oversight on weapons transfers. The Israeli government is currently escalating attacks on the civilian population of Gaza. They are both out of control.”4
Since Israel began bombing Gaza in October 2023, the U.S. has pledged tens of billions of dollars of weapons to Israel’s military. And the White House is urging Congress to approve the sale of another $500 million of joint direct attack munitions to Israel.5 How many Palestinian civilians must die before Congress will take a stand?
Ending the transfer of offensive weapons to Israel will save lives in Gaza and the West Bank. There’s no time left to wait.
Thanks for taking action,
Joey and the Demand Progress team
