American consumers have been able to purchase increasingly efficient household appliances over the last several decades, using less water and energy that ultimately saves big money on utility bills. The driving force behind improvements to our washing machines, dishwashers, ovens, refrigerators and other appliances has been strong energy and water efficiency standards established by the Department of Energy (DOE). 

A typical American household saves $576 per year because of these standards, but a new series of regulations from the DOE would reverse this money-saving trend by rolling back these pro-consumer measures. Attacks against the efficiency of our appliances are attacks on our utility bills, and our health. Less efficient appliances will result in higher water and energy costs, while contributing more waste and pollution into our communities and environment.
