Congress recently held a vote to overrule the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and deny endangered species protections to the Longfin smelt – and your representative did the right thing by voting against this dangerous attack on wildlife. Take a moment to sign a message thanking them, and show you support them standing up for imperiled animals now and in the future! Despite the fact that FWS biologists found the Longfin smelt deserving of Endangered Species Act listing, members of Congress overruled that decision and kept this fish from receiving much-needed protections. This was a clear and reckless abuse of power, and more and more imperiled species could have their survival decided by politicians instead of scientists. The silver lining is that your representative tried to stop this power grab with their vote. As some members of Congress continue to try to erode the laws that protect our nation’s threatened and endangered animals, their vote shows they’re willing to do what’s right for wildlife. As their constituent, you can help by signing a quick note to your representative thanking them for trying to stop this latest attack and urging them to continue protecting America’s imperiled species! |
