Enormous Anti-Trump Protests Surge Worldwide and More Great NewsFeaturing a thousand events, Bernie, a surprise AOC visit, and moreToday’s Live BriefingToday I’m doing a live briefing and Q&A session at 2pm ET—exclusively for our paid subscribers (one of the benefits of joining us). Plus, it helps us avoid trolls! Become a paid subscriber Rallies Held Across The WorldYesterday, enormous pro-democracy protests erupted across America and internationally. While we’re still waiting for final numbers, early estimates show that at least hundreds of thousands showed up at more than 1,000 events in the US. And across the world—in Germany, Spain, France, Taiwan, Indonesia, and elsewhere—demonstrators celebrated International Workers’ Day, and rallied against the Trump regime. Bernie Sanders Brought The Fire To PhillySen. Bernie Sanders was joined by thousands outside Philadelphia City Hall at the “For the Workers, Not the Billionaires” rally. Sanders warned members of the Pennsylvania delegation, saying: “if they vote for tax breaks for billionaires and cut Medicaid, nutrition, and education, we are going to throw them out of their jobs.” AOC Surprises NYC CrowdDem Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez delivered an unscheduled, roaring speech in New York City. AOC called out Republicans for suspending next week’s Medicaid cuts “cuz they’re getting too scared.” It was a great reminder that our public pressure can make the GOP think twice about their awful agenda. Let’s get even louder! We The People Showed UnityThe show of unity was stronger than I’ve seen in years. In cities like Phoenix, activist groups, international labor unions, progressive organizers, and everyday citizens came together to speak out. This is clearly just the beginning of something huge. The Energy Was Defiant, Yet HopefulIn Chicago, thousands of demonstrators took over several city blocks. The day had a “we’re not gonna take this” vibe—something that we can all get behind. People are fired up, and more folks are getting comfortable with protesting. So as the weather gets warmer, and new catalysts emerge to bring everyone together, you can bet there will be record-breaking crowds. The National Law Day of ActionYesterday was also The National Law Day of Action, with dozens of events held around America—including outside The Supreme Court. Thousands of lawyers gathered to spotlight the ongoing assault on the rule of law, judges, and their independence. Corporate media always does a terrible job covering the protests, because it looks horrible for Trump. But thanks to this community, we have more readers than most local news orgs, and many regional papers. We will keep cutting through the Trump propaganda every single day. We continue to run one of the biggest social media campaigns and our enormous Contact Congress initiative. But we need all hands on deck, so we can do even more. All of our funding comes from our paid subscribers on Substack. So if you haven’t yet, and you’re able, please join us as a paid subscriber today. You’ll also unlock exclusive, member-only benefits No matter how you subscribe, thanks for all you do! I will be back with another edition of Great News tomorrow. Onward!
