On one side, Musk and Trump are spreading lies about Social Security in order to undermine and destroy the program. On the other side, Senator Bernie Sanders is advocating for the Social Security Expansion Act to protect the social safety net, expand benefits, and tax the rich to fund it.

Senator Sanders said of the legislation, “By requiring millionaires and billionaires to finally pay their fair share into the program, the Social Security Expansion Act would ensure the fund’s solvency to the end of the century.”¹

Congress has a choice between the people and billionaires. We must demand that our lawmakers preserve and expand benefits that tens of millions of people rely on.

Trump has repeatedly said that he wouldn’t “touch” Social Security.² Yet, DOGE is discarding the workers and offices that serve beneficiaries and Trump is parroting far-right conspiracies about Social Security.

DOGE is executing its playbook at the Social Security Administration just like it did at USAID, the CFPB, EPA, FAA, and other agencies: spread propaganda, fire thousands of workers, and hobble government services.

While this administration tries to destroy a decades-old program that supports seniors and people with disabilities, we must fight back to not only protect Social Security, but also expand it with tax hikes on the rich.
