Trump fires Justice Department officials whose job it was to prosecute him… Trump’s acting Attorney General James McHenry wrote more than a dozen justice officials informing them of their dismissal. The reason for their firing? Trump (allegedly) broke the law as laid out in four indictments–and these officials were assigned to the cases. Wrote McHenry in his letter, “Given your significant role in prosecuting the President, I do not believe that the leadership of the Department can trust you to assist in implementing the President’s agenda faithfully.” Meanwhile, a review into prosecutions of now-pardoned January 6 insurrectionists is ongoing. Nearly half of immigrants arrested by Trump have no criminal records… How does arresting people who have committed no criminal offense cut down on crime? That’s a question for Donald Trump. “Immigration authorities made close to 1,200 arrests in just one day, and nearly half of those detained don't have criminal records, according to a senior Trump administration official. Data first obtained by NBC News shows that Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested a total of 1,179 people on Sunday, which is more than the 956 arrests that the agency posted on X on Sunday night. But just 613 of those total arrests — nearly 52% — were considered ‘criminal arrests.’ The rest appear to be nonviolent offenders or people who have not committed any criminal offense.” Life-saving efforts across the world in chaos following Trump order to halt foreign aid… The United States, the nation with, by far, the most total wealth, leads the world in humanitarian aid, and while foreign aid is less than 1 percent of the federal budget, it is the difference between life and death for people across the world who benefit from critical programs. Now these people have no lifeline thanks to Donald Trump. Politico notes, “Among the aid groups that appear affected are ones that remove landmines from conflict zones; provide testing and treatment for people with HIV in many African countries through the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief; fund investigative reporting into Russian disinformation and organized crime networks; and tackle food insecurity worldwide.” Reviewing foreign aid is absolutely something a new administration should do, but cutting off funding entirely without warning is irresponsible. Monday is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Auschwitz was liberated 80 years ago, on January 27, 1945. Today’s Buzz ‘Joe Exotic’ looks up to fellow convicted felon Donald Trump… The so-called “Tiger King” of Netflix series fame has more in common with Donald Trump than we realized. Both are convicted felons, both are reality TV stars, both appear to have bleached hair, and both have tried their hand in business as well as politics. Perhaps Joseph "Exotic" Maldonado, serving a 22-year felony sentence, and Donald Trump, serving no sentence, deserve each other. Why does Exotic look up to Orange? Because “you can become the President of the United States as a felon,” he says.
