40K-50K people??? Prairie du Chien is a small town with 5,500 people tucked away in extreme southwestern Wisconsin, hemmed in by the Mississippi River. There is virtually nothing around it other than a smattering of small villages with 500-700 people. So I am not sure where these 40K-50K people are coming from.
