America faces a choice. Think of it this way.
On January 5th, 2021, the people of Georgia elected their first African-American Senator and their first Jewish Senator—indicating that our beautiful multicultural, multiracial and multireligious constitutional democracy is open to all, even in the Deep South and former Confederate states.
Then one day later, on January 6th, 2021, Donald Trump unleashed a violent insurrection—with Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and other seditionists acting as a stormtrooper vanguard attacking our police officers—to overthrow Joe Biden’s 7-million vote victory in the 2020 presidential election and install himself as president to keep his private and corrupt money-making operation afloat.
America is at a crossroads.
Will we keep building a strong democracy open to all and committed to the common good?
Or will we lapse back into authoritarianism, insurrectionism, racism and antisemitism?
January 5th or January 6th?
I have nothing but gratitude for your friendship and solidarity, and am encouraged by your enduring faith in the great promise of democracy.
With all best wishes and nothing but high hopes for America,
