Senator Bob Menendez, and his wife Nadine Menendez, have been indicted on federal bribery charges. Prosecutors accuse the pair of receiving “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in bribes and used the senator’s influence to enrich several businessmen from New Jersey, as well as the Egyptian government. They also allege Menendez received cash, gold bars, payments toward a home mortgage, compensation for a low- or no-show job, a luxury vehicle and other items of value.
