Over 135 mass shootings so far

 

Our nation has surpassed 135 mass shootings for 2023 – and it's only April. If this year follows the trend of the last three years, the number of mass shootings will surpass 600 by New Year's Eve. One of the most deadly tragedies struck just a little over one week ago, when a person armed with a military-style semiautomatic assault weapon entered The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, and fired 152 rounds inside the elementary school. Three 9-year-old children and three staff members were killed in the shooting. How many times do we need to prove that assault weapons have brought nothing but death to our grieving nation? These guns are the weapon of choice for mass shooters – and yet we are still fighting tooth and nail against the gun lobby and its favorite politicians to get these military-style weapons of war off the streets of America.

I refuse to back down from this fight, but I’m counting on fearless fighters like you to stand with me. That’s why I urgently need at least 10,000 supporters to recommit themselves to our fight against gun violence.
