Neo-Nazi leader and Maryland extremist busted in plot to "completely destroy" Baltimore, Justice Department says

Two people charged with conspiracy to damage energy facilities — a neo-Nazi leader in Florida and a radicalized Maryland woman with whom he had a personal relationship — planned to attack electrical substations encircling Baltimore and “completely destroy” the city, further proving that far-right extremism is the greatest domestic threat facing this country.

Take Action: Fire all the cops, soldiers, and politicians named in the Oath Keepers member list!

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Top ex-Trump official cuts off interview amid tough questions

Former Sec. of State and notoriously thin-skinned Trumper Mike Pompeo dreams of becoming president one day but can't even manage to sit through a single, mildly combative interview without throwing in the towel.

Take Action: Tell Congress to cut military spending and fund social programs!

Lauren Boebert prays for President Biden’s death — again — in Dallas sermon
Republican Rep. and card-carrying clown caucus member Boebert fell back on a much-used right-wing cliche when she prayed in a Texas church — to laughter and applause — for the death of President Biden, using a convenient quote from the Bible. Cute! And very Christ-like!

McCarthy calls on Biden to accept draconian spending cuts in debt ceiling fight
Republican House Speaker and upright invertebrate Kevin McCarthy sees Congress' pending need to raise the debt ceiling as a craven opportunity to "slash spending," which translates to gutting popular, lifesaving social programs — even if it means risking a global financial catastrophe in the process.

Take Action: Stop the GOP's plan to keep the rich from paying their fair share!

Federal judge says constitutional right to abortion may still exist, despite SCOTUS ruling

A federal judge suggested Monday that there may be a constitutional right to abortion baked into the 13th Amendment — an area she said went unexplored by the Supreme Court in its disastrous decision last year overturning Roe v. Wade.

Take Action: Demand the Senate Judiciary Committee hold hearings on the unaccountable Supreme Court!

Louisiana State Police are investigating the deadly shooting of an unarmed Black man by Shreveport officer
Alonzo Bagley, 43, was shot and killed by a Shreveport Police Department officer after police responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex Friday night, the Louisiana State Police said in a statement. As is tragically always the case when examining a police killing of a Black individual in America, it's best practice to take everything the authorities claim with a grain of salt.

The 2022 midterms showed us how critical state-level organizing really is

Sister District: If just a few races had gone the other way, we could still be in control of Congress. It's imperative that we retake the House in 2024, and to do that we need to contest EVERY race in EVERY state. Will you chip in to help Sister District build the grassroots organization we need to elect progressives who will fight back against GOP extremism?

Climate disasters displacing millions in the US
The climate crisis is here, now, and millions of Americans are already paying the price for it. That’s according to a new Census Bureau report, which found that more than three million adults — 1.4% of the US adult population — were forced to evacuate their homes in the past year because of hurricanes, floods, and other climate-related events.

Biden scores major win as analysis finds Inflation Reduction Act will add 100,000 clean energy jobs
Climate Power, a leading US climate action group, revealed that 94 clean energy projects announced since President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law last August — with zero Republican support — are set to create more than 100,000 green jobs. The revelation is a major victory for Biden and, more importantly, the entire world.

Mexico opposes restart of US "remain in Mexico" immigration policy
President Biden has been fighting to permanently end a cruel, holdover Trump-era policy requiring asylum seekers to wait — often under dangerous circumstances — in Mexico indefinitely for US hearings, but GOP-dominated states like Texas and Missouri have been tirelessly battling in court to reinstate it. Mexican officials have come out forcefully against restarting the inhumane program, throwing its future into question.

Workers stage largest strike in history of Britain's health service
In a clear indication that the global labor movement is alive and well, tens of thousands of nurses and ambulance service staff walked off the job in Great Britain in an ongoing pay dispute. Nurses and ambulance workers have been striking separately since late last year, but Monday's walkout involving both, largely in England, is the biggest in the 75-year history of the state-run National Health Service. Like most labor disputes, the best and fastest solution is to simply give the workers what they deserve — proper wages in the face of historically high inflation.

Today’s Action: Tell the Atlanta City Council to stop the development of Cop City!

A massive police training center set to be built in Atlanta is threatening 381 acres of publicly owned forest. Brave environmental protesters have been setting up camp with tents in the trees for months, risking arrest and prosecution in defense of green space and common sense. One protester, 26-year-old Tortuguita, was already shot 13 times by police on Jan. 18, in what other activists are calling a state-sanctioned murder. There is zero reason that a privately owned, corporate-funded tactical police training ground is important enough to bulldoze publicly owned forest land… let alone kill people over. Oh, did we mention the price of the project? Nearly $90 million.

With widespread calls for decreased police funding and increased climate action, the proposal to raze forest land for such a facility is grossly out of touch. There are plenty of initiatives that officials in Atlanta could be working on for the betterment of their residents — but instead, constituents’ voices have been ignored in favor of even more deference to law enforcement. Ongoing protests from residents in the area have made it clear that this is NOT what the community wants. One recent survey showed 98% of residents OPPOSE the building of Cop City. How long will it take until Atlanta council members wake up and listen to the actual people they were elected to serve?

Call the Atlanta City Council office at 404-330-6030 or email an Atlanta City Council member and demand they revoke the Cop City permit!

PS — Please don't forget to sign the petition banning the West Virginia January 6th felon from running for national office, and be sure to follow us on TwitterFacebook, and Instagram.
