Trump says "disloyal" DeSantis "trying to rewrite history" on COVID
The disgraced ex-president took shots at "Ron DeSanctimonious" while campaigning yesterday, trashing the Florida governor for considering a run for the presidency in 2024. Trump, who famously told America the pandemic would be over by April of 2020, actually criticized DeSantis over his abysmal COVID track record and accused his one-time ally of "[changing] his tune a lot" on vaccines. Neither of these clowns has a leg to stand on with respect to the pandemic — or any issue, frankly. Batten down the hatches, folks. This shit show is gonna get bigly ugly.

Shocking! Who could've seen this coming?!

Memphis police disband unit that fatally beat Tyre Nichols
Police Director Cerelyn “CJ” Davis disbanded the city’s so-called SCORPION unit on Saturday, citing a “cloud of dishonor” from newly released video that showed members of the gang group brutally beating Tyre Nichols to death after stopping the Black motorist for a minor traffic violation. Davis caved to insurmountable pressure to abolish the controversial unit after initially resisting calls to do so. Five ex-MPD officers, who have each been charged with second-degree murder, savagely beat Nichols for several minutes while screaming profanities and contradicting commands at their victim in just the latest, horrific example of poorly trained, militarized cops abusing the awesome trust and policing power granted to them by their community.

Hammer-wielding Pelosi attacker calls local newsroom from jail, apologizes for not going further to take out Democratic lawmakers
David DePape called the KTVU newsroom from San Francisco County Jail Friday with a disturbing message. The right-wing extremist told a local reporter that the "people killing [liberty] have names and addresses, so I got their names and addresses so I could pay them a little visit…have a heart to heart chat about their bad behavior." DePape continued, "I want to apologize to everyone. I messed up. What I did was really bad. I'm so sorry I didn't get more of them. It's my own fault. No one else is to blame. I should have come better prepared." No word from Fox News or the right-wing hellscape on how this latest development fits into their preposterous, hate-fueled hoax theory.
Democrats launch the Congressional Dads Caucus
California Rep. Jimmy Gomez gained national attention as House Republicans forced the chamber to endure 15 votes to elect a speaker earlier this month, wearing his infant son on the House floor as rounds went on for multiple days. Speaking at a press conference this week announcing the newly formed Congressional Dads Caucus, Gomez credited his son's appearance with him at his workplace for bringing "visibility to the role of working dads across the country."
Treasury Sec. Yellen warns of debt ceiling "catastrophe" for US and beyond
Yellen told Axios she is “nervous” about the US defaulting on its debt and cautioned that Americans likely will face a scary and spiraling recession if House Republicans refuse to raise the debt ceiling this summer — like they have done DOZENS of times in the past.

Memphis protesters demand accountability for others officers on scene of brutal murder, cheer end of SCORPION Unit
Protesters in Memphis applauded the disbanding of the police department's disgraceful SCORPION Unit and demanded that the city name ALL officers — beyond the five that have been charged — present at the scene of the heinous crime, including one officer who can be seen in body camera footage firing a Taser toward Tyre Nichols. They also demanded that the city end pretextual traffic stops and cease the use of unmarked cars and plain clothes officers. It cannot happen soon enough.
Police using digital data to prosecute abortions
The far-right Supreme Court's disastrous ruling overturning Roe v. Wade last summer triggered a wave of statewide abortion bans and — in a terribly unsurprising and deeply disturbing development — gave local police departments greater authority and autonomy to invade people's private data to hunt down and prosecute abortion seekers. Good thing our police are out there protecting the citizenry from these super scary criminals!

GOP Utah gov. signs ban on lifesaving medical care for trans youth
No big deal. Just the "government that governs least governs best" party trampling on bodily autonomy, personal rights, and those vaunted pillars of liberty and freedom they purportedly love so much.
