MAGA congressman-elect admits to string of bonkers lies in his biography
Republican Rep.-elect and obvious fantasy enthusiast George Santos became embroiled in scandal after it emerged that just about everything in his biography — from where he went to school to imagined charity work — was a total fabrication. On Monday, he finally admitted that he "embellished" his "resume" but still hasn't agreed to resign. “I am not a criminal,” he said, as if that absolves him of his flagrant dishonesty.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump snaps, has complete meltdown over House 1/6 committee
The disgraced ex-president knows the clock is ticking on an imminent indictment and is growing more unhinged by the minute.

Texas lawmakers plan to further decimate abortion rights in upcoming legislative session
Not even the draconian repeal of Roe v. Wade was enough to satisfy theocratic anti-abortion zealots. Next up: allowing local district attorneys to prosecute abortion providers in counties across the state, penalizing online groups that help Texans receive abortion medication, criminally punishing companies that financially support out-of-state abortion travel, and other measures that would prevent patients from crossing state lines for care.

Far-right Republican ignites war with Marjorie Taylor Greene with a slew of criticisms
The butting of heads in the GOP continues as radical MAGA Rep. Andy Biggs ripped into the equally delusional Marjorie Taylor Greene for having “crossed a Rubicon” after she slammed Republicans who intend to vote against Kevin McCarthy's speakership. Honestly, it's shocking that Biggs knows that the Rubicon is more than a brand of car. It appears whatever the opposite of "survival of the fittest" might be is breaking out in the GOP, and we can't wait to see them tear themselves apart.

Jamie Raskin says that the Electoral College is a "danger to the American people"
The stalwart Democratic congressman has been one of the most outspoken and efficient opponent of the MAGA movement's efforts to destroy American democracy. Now, he's calling for a complete overhauling of how we run our elections to ensure that the will of the American people is actually carried out after voters head to the ballot box, which obviously entails getting rid of the absurd and undemocratic electoral college that has delivered the presidency to Republicans over and over again despite losing the popular vote over and over again.

4th Washington state electrical substation vandalized
A fourth electrical substation was vandalized late on Christmas Day in Washington state, continuing a disturbing new trend and leaving thousands more without power, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office. The Department of Homeland Security's warning that such attacks could be the work of ideological groups is especially concerning when one considers the growing tide of right-wing and specifically white nationalist, militia-minded extremism festering in this country.
Take Action: Tell your congressmember to co-sponsor the Billionaire Minimum Tax bill!
Amid reports that the committee is already cooperating with the Justice Department by sharing evidence garnered from 1,000 witness interviews and thousands of collected documents, former federal prosecutors say the panel’s work offers a trove of evidence to strengthen the DOJ prosecutors tasked with the formidable investigation into the crooked ex-president and his cadre of conspirators.
US military academy begins removal of Confederate memorials from campus
The elite US military academy at West Point is removing Confederate monuments from its Hudson Valley campus in New York state, in accordance with a congressional review and orders set in motion by the Pentagon. The removal, which includes a portrait of Gen Robert E Lee in Confederate uniform, began earlier this month. The academy, America’s oldest, said the operation to either take down or modify displays memorializing the Confederacy would be a “multi-phased process."
White House shreds Texas Gov. Greg Abbott over cruel Christmas Eve migrant stunt
The heartless GOP governor trafficked busloads of migrants — including children — to Washington, DC, and then abandoned them on the street in the freezing cold, proving once again that Republicans see migrants as less-than-human nuisances to be used as political pawns.
Democrats, feeling new strength, plan to go on offense on voting rights
After retaining all but one of the governor’s offices they held and winning control of state legislatures in Michigan and Minnesota, Democrats are preparing to go on offense in 2023. They are putting forward a long list of proposals that include creating automatic voter registration systems, preregistering teenagers to vote, returning the franchise to felons released from prison, and criminalizing election misinformation.
