It’s ridiculous and racist.
In response to the January 6 committee hearings in Congress, white supremacist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene complained in an interview that “we went through justice for George Floyd but we don’t see any justice” for the Capitol rioters.
What a disgusting thing to say. Equating the deadly violence on January 6, when a group of armed insurrectionists tried to overthrow the government, with peaceful protests for racial justice is as horrendous as it is absurd.
Marjorie Taylor Greene may not take the threat of white supremacist violence seriously, but we do. That’s why Cori has been urging us since last January to expel the Republican Members of Congress who incited this attempted coup. Because of Cori’s leadership, hearings are underway now to reveal the truth of January 6 so we can hold those responsible accountable.
It’s painful to look back on this disgraceful day in our country’s history — but we made a promise to hold every Republican accountable for their actions and to never stop pushing back against the hatred and division they sowed in our democracy.
It was only Cori’s first week in office when this attack happened. But she jumped into action immediately to introduce her first-ever piece of legislation calling for the expulsion of Republican insurrectionists from office.
Hundreds of thousands of you have already co-signed Cori’s resolution — and this widespread support is why we’ve built the momentum to propel this investigation forward until justice is served.
It’s critical we show the urgency of our movement especially now that the January 6 hearings are underway.
Can you chip in $5 or anything you can to support Cori’s bold leadership and advocacy in Congress?
In solidarity,
Team Cori
