The news that the Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade is devastating — but we cannot sit idly by. We knew this was a possibility, but I’m appalled by how far-reaching this draft decision is in its reversal of Roe and decades-old legal precedent. The legal reasoning the conservative Justices outline in this draft not only takes away the right to bodily autonomy but also threatens the right to privacy and could be used to take away other hard-won rights in the future.
