This is getting out of hand. Donald Trump held another one of his vanity rallies this weekend to feed his insatiable ego.
Outside of his usual attacks on our democracy, lies, and winks and nods about 2024, he once again turned his attention to me – take a look:
“How about Adam Schiff? Watermelon head I call him. How about Adam Schiff? He goes ‘Russia, Russia, Russia.’ Then, after two years, it's been proven to be a hoax. And he goes ‘Ukraine, Ukraine.’ He goes up again like nothing ever happened with Russia. These people are very bad for our country.”
I must admit, balancing a “watermelon head” on top of a “pencil neck” is hard work. But someone’s gotta do it.
Honestly, though, it’s more than just childish. This schoolyard attack on my character and my work came right on the heels of the former disgraced president lambasting the investigations into the bloody assault on our Capitol on January 6.
And let’s remember what “Russia, Russia, Russia” and Ukraine were all about: Trump soliciting and receiving help from Russia in his 2016 race (and lying to cover it up), and then attempting to extort Ukraine for help in his 2020 re-election campaign. All while praising Putin over his own intelligence agencies.
Despite how pathetic Trump’s word salad is, he is still the leader of the Republican Party. He drives the headlines for the right-wing disinformation machine and millions of people across our country follow his words like gospel.
It’s only going to get worse from here until November. Because Trump knows in order for him to win in 2024, his chief enabler, Kevin McCarthy, needs to be Speaker of the House. So from now until the midterms, he’s going to be loud, tear down Democrats like me, and fire up his base to spread these lies far and wide in order to deepen the hatred for our party.
The worst part is, it’s working. Right now, our chances to hold the House look tough – so I’m asking for your help.
Donald Trump may be loud and have a large megaphone... but we have you. Together, I believe we can stand up to these smears and win in November. Thank you for all you do. — Adam |
