Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito buys $1.8 million Dartmouth home. Here's what neighbors are saying.

DARTMOUTH — A noteworthy new neighbor could be walking the streets of Dartmouth after purchasing a second home near Ricketson’s Point.

According to assessment records, Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito and her husband, Stephen Rodolakis, paid $1.795 million for the 4,830-square-foot house at 7 Fremont St. that was built in 2003. A spokesperson for Polito confirmed with CommonWealth Magazine — which originally broke the story — this will be her second home and Polito will still remain at her primary residency in Shrewsbury.

“Dartmouth is an amazing community,” said Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson. “There’s nowhere I’d rather live, work and be around my family than Dartmouth, and I’m sure Lt. Gov. Polito will feel the same way. Welcome to the SouthCoast.”

It’s unclear what Polito’s visiting schedule will be at her new residency; The Standard-Times reached out to her press secretary but didn’t get an immediate response.

According to Realtor.com, it’s an “extraordinary custom built shingle style home. Dramatic foyer opens to great room with sweeping stairway, soaring ceilings, French doors…Step down to cozy sunroom or into a richly appointed paneled library with fireplace. The heart of the home is a spectacular gourmet kitchen opening to fireplaced family room.

“The kitchen features double islands, banquette dining, state-of-the-art appliances. Family room opens to covered decks and rose-covered pergola overlooking rolling lawns with a peek of the water beyond.” The home is also near a private beach and minutes from Pandanaram Village. The property was sold on Oct. 23, after it was listed on March 20, 2019, at $1.845 million.
