Just when you thought House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy — one of Donald Trump’s most loyal supporters who defended his dangerous actions and malicious lies every step of the way — couldn’t sink any lower, he does this:
That’s right. McCarthy took a plane to Mar-a-Lago to grovel at Trump’s feet and beg him for political help. Soon after, he said Trump “committed to helping elect Republicans in the House and Senate in 2022.”
When the Minority Leader eagerly seeks the help of a twice-impeached former president who incited a violent insurrection on the U.S. Capitol just three weeks ago, it’s clear: the GOP has become little more than a cult of personality for Donald Trump.
They will do anything, say anything, and support anyone in order to win. At the expense of our rule of law, our country, and our democracy.
And here’s the thing: It could easily work. With plans to gerrymander districts in many states, Republicans are already chomping at the bit about their chances to take back the House in 2022, something that would effectively reward their refusal to stand up for our democracy.
We will stop them, but we have no time to waste. We must start preparing right now.
As long as the GOP continues to defend Trump and use him for their political gain, they will pose an ongoing threat to our democracy. Let’s continue to fight for what’s right and stop these Trump Republicans in their tracks. — Adam |
