“On Thursday night, CNN’s Anderson Cooper broadcast a leaked phone recording of First Lady Melania Trump in which she vented to her former friend Stephanie Winston Wolkoff in July 2018 about the White House Christmas display and her infamous trip to the border during that summer’s migrant-family separation crisis. In the recording, Trump says she doesn’t care for having to put together the holiday displays: “Who gives a fuck about Christmas stuff?” Discussing her frustration with critics who wanted her to do more about the administration’s family separation policy, the First Lady said, “‘Oh, what about the children that were separated?’ Give me a fucking break.’”

Remember back in May when Trump retweeted a video that said, “The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat.” and his supporters defended him? But are now saying that people are heartless for not caring that he contracted Covid after months of purposely underplaying it and making fun of those who took precautions? I never wish death on anyone....but the irony is pretty interesting to watch.
OK people, several of my FB friends have said on their feeds that they are sure that Trump's announcement is a ploy, is not real, is a stratagem for pushing the latest bad news out of the news feed, is a chance for him to take control of the news cycle from Biden, etc., etc., etc.
Just. STOP. IT. Really.
I agree strongly with Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin's analysis here:
There is no way Trump has fabricated this diagnosis, for several reasons. He's a malignant narcissist with psychopathic tendencies, and he perceives illness as a WEAKNESS. Evidence for this: 1. He cut his own brother out of the family fortune because his brother, Fred Jr., was an alcoholic. He did not acknowledge his brother's fatal illness until the day before he died, and he has since said nothing about it. 2. He has consistently refused to acknowledge the seriousness of the covid-19 death rate. He will not admit to being sick himself. Remember, we still don't know why he went to Walter Reed. This is why we don't know.
Evidence AGAINST this being a hoax, evidence that it is REAL:
1. The Dow tanked in response to the announcement. The international markets also plunged. Remember that the ONLY "good" thing Trump could speak of was the economy. Look also at the release of September's jobs report today.
2. The Trump administration tried to cover up Hope Hicks' positive covid-19 test result. It was leaked, not announced.
3. Last night, the emergency procedures for our government were activated. within 1/2 hour of Trump's announcement via Tweet, a plane was put in the air, with nuclear weapons capable of countering an attack, in case an enemy wished to take advantage of this emergency.
4. The chain of presidential succession has been activated, and Nancy Pelosi has been put on alert.
5. TRUMP IS NOT ASYMPTOMATIC. At his Bedminster fundraiser event, he was coughing, had a fever, and was lethargic.
6. Those rational folks at QAnon are announcing that Trump testing positive for covid-19 is made up, because Trump is in sequestration because "HRC will be 'elected' because she has been running a pedophile ring." -- don't keep company with conspiracy lunatics!
7. There are several national security concerns about what this announcement does to us. The entire senior leadership of our executive branch must now go into lockdown for 10 days minimum because they have all been exposed to covid-19. There are serious national security implications for this. If a president's health is announced as compromised, enemies of the US will seek to take advantage of that, and the best tool they have at their disposal is misinformation. Russia could attack us, and we have nobody in charge. Be on high alert for misinformation. There is nothing that would benefit Putin's agenda more than chaos here. There has been a marked uptick in bot traffic re: covid-19, hydroxychloroquine, etc.
Keep in mind the entire context surrounding Trump's tweet. If your mind defaulted to "it's gotta be a hoax because Trump can't do anything but lie" that's a sign that you have been impacted by the 4 years of narcissistic abuse Trump has inflicted on all of us. Conspiracist thinking is a sign that you have been damaged by that narcissistic abuse.
In a narcissistic relationship (and yeah, we are all of us in one and have been in one for nearly 4 years), there comes a point where you doubt your own reality. This is the point where you know you are being victimized by gaslighting. If you are leaning toward the "hoax" explanation, you need to examine how Trump's abuse has hit you. Get grounded and don't be part of the problem.
In short, this may be the most dangerous moment in our history since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962.
Bottom line: there is no good outcome for Trump personally, the Trump campaign, or the Trump presidency, as a result of his announcement by Tweet, that he and Melanoma have tested positive for covid-19.
