I know my team reached out to you earlier today, but this is an urgent matter. After President Trump openly admitted earlier this week that he won’t fund the U.S. Postal Service to prevent people voting by mail in this November’s election, the attacks on the USPS have only gotten worse. Trump’s hand-picked Postmaster General Louis DeJoy – a major Trump campaign donor and businessman with a multi-million dollar investment in a competing postal service contractor – has made massive cost-cutting measures and policy changes, including banning overtime, cutting staff, consolidating power, and decommissioning 671 mail-sorting machines (10 percent of the nation’s inventory). Plus, people across the country are witnessing dozens of mail boxes being removed from their communities. The Postal Service has now warned the nation that as a direct result of these changes, voters in 46 states and Washington, DC could potentially be disenfranchised this November due to service delays. I’ll be blunt: the Trump administration’s deliberate attacks on the Postal Service are nothing short of voter suppression. And it’s time for the man behind these blatant attacks to step down.
