LETTER: Trump’s behavior during time of coronavirus peril is par for the course

LETTER: Trump’s behavior during time of coronavirus peril is par for the course

Well... as coronavirus grips the world, our ‘Fearless Leader’ is gripping the shaft of a golf club at his golf course.

The Standard-Times verifies and reviews all letters to the editor we receive. The letters represent the views of the letter writers, not those of The Standard-Times.
At this time in history (globally and nationally) I am reminded of an oft spoken saying: NERO FIDDLED AS ROME BURNT.
Does this sound familiar?
Well... as coronavirus grips the world, our ‘Fearless Leader’ is gripping the shaft of a golf club at his golf course.
Obviously ‘The Imperial President’ sees himself and his kith and kin as impervious, immuned and immortal. Good luck?!?!
As Joe and Jane Q Public, blindly with trepidation make their way avoiding quicksand, our ‘Fearless Leader’ may well find himself in a sandtrap... of his own making.
I wonder what his constituents are thinking and feeling (now) as they hold their loved ones for dear life, while he holds his love for golf?

It’s a pity, I feel for them. As I’ve said repeatedly ‘they deserve so much better.’ They are just as much Americans as you and I.
You’ve got to understand, he drives their fears and uncertainties with hatred and division. You and I have seen through ‘it’ but they haven’t. Be kind.

This is a moment in time to take a lesson from Nashville and come together. Somebody may be in a place where you may be next.
Rather than ‘turning on’ each other we should be ‘turning to’ each other... something Donald Trump does not comprehend or embrace because he’s never lived outside of himself.
Thank you
