The Massachusetts Gambling Commission is seeking input regarding a
CASINO IN SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS
The Tribal Casino proposed by the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe in Taunton, funded by GENTING, has been held up in court....
If the Gambling Commission approves a CASINO in this region and the Mashpee Wampanoag subsequently prevail in court and construct a CASINO ....NONE of the revenue will go to the Commonwealth or the City of Taunton.
In addition, the Tribe purchased the land in Middleboro from the original investors and are not paying real estate taxes on that land. Will they also attempt to place that land into trust and construct another Tribal Casino? Their plans remain unclear.
As it stands, the 2 CASINOS approved and currently in operation have failed to produce the revenues that were projected due to GAMBLING MARKET SATURATION.
Until a court resolution is determined, no action should be taken by the Gambling Commission to approve an additional casino.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is seeking public comment regarding next steps for Region C (Southeastern Massachusetts) and the Category 1 gaming license.
- Should the Commission consider re-opening Region C?
- Should the Commission consider the current performance of the existing casinos in deciding whether to re-open Region C?
- What, if any, role should the potential for Tribal Gaming in Region C have in the Commission’s consideration to re-open Region C?
- What other factors or issues do you think the Commission should consider or address if Region C is re-opened for a commercial gaming license?
