Can we turn back the clock on nuclear war?

Win Without War

I’m nervous. I grew up during the Cold War, and have lived my whole life with the threat of nuclear extinction.

And then last week that threat became even more real: the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists — an organization that monitors the global risk of nuclear war — set the Doomsday Clock to just 100 seconds to midnight. This is the closest to midnight the clock has been set. Ever.

Win Without War is pulling out all the stops to halt and turn back the Doomsday Clock — and we need your help. Your support will fuel nonstop strategizing with progressive allies in Congress. Your support will squelch lazy reporting and false hysteria that fuels the nuclear arms race. Your support will build movements with partners in cities and states across the country to fight for a safe future.

Can you chip in $12.00 right now to help pull us back from the brink of Armageddon?

Last week, leading scientists declared our entire planet is closer to nuclear armageddon than at any other time in the past 65 years.

Closer than during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.

Closer than the height of the Cold War in the 1980s.

Closer than at the start of the nuclear arms race in 1953.

With the election of Donald Trump, new dangers have emerged and existing ones have deepened. Trump’s disregard for arms control paired with his cavalier attitude about the other great threat of our time, climate change, puts all of us in grave danger.

So, Win Without War is zeroing in on Trump’s greatest nuclear risks. We’re throwing all our weight behind bills to prevent the first use of nuclear weapons.

We’re pushing to prevent an attack on North Korea.

We have joined with partners to reduce the U.S. military’s contributions to climate destruction. And we’re demanding that our tax dollars support social programs that provide real safety and security, not expenditures that fuel violence and fund the development so-called of ‘usable’ nuclear weapons.

With pressure on Congress from a people-powered movement nationwide, we can pull our world back from nuclear midnight — but only if you join us.

Can you chip in $12.00 right now to help pull us back from the brink of Armageddon?

For 65 years the world has lived with the terror of nuclear weapons, and we’re closer to doomsday than ever. My entire life, I’ve watched as the world wasted trillions of dollars and countless reserves of human talent that could have gone to protect the environment, fight hunger, and educate our children that went instead to wage unnecessary and deadly war. I do not want future generations carry this burden. Let’s join together to free ourselves, and our children, from a world where nuclear terror is just 100 seconds away.

For four generations people around the world have lived with the fear that a nuclear war could erupt at any moment. This is unacceptable. And it doesn’t have to be this way.

Thank you for working for peace,
Amy, Erica, Tara, and the Win Without War team
