Sen. Bernie Moreno says former son-in-law Max Miller should not serve in the House

Ohio's Republican Senator has finally publicly condemned his wife-beating son-in-law, Rep. Max Miller, and declared that he should not serve in the House of Representatives in a public statement. In typical Republican fashion, Moreno waited until the absolute last second to weigh in on the scandal. Emily, who is Moreno’s daughter and Miller’s now ex-wife, accuses her ex of breaking her daughter's collarbone, throwing boiling water at her, and holding a gun to her head. Miller attempted to get out ahead of Moreno's statement with his own video, in which he said "My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"

This is a common defense of abusers, falsely equating a traumatic response to warmth, and definitely does not help his case. On top of that, where is the rest of the Republican Party? They have an abuser in their ranks, and they continue to stand by him! So much for "family values!"

Moreno's denouncement *should* be the nail in the coffin for Miller, who is already trailing Democratic union ironworker Brian Poindexter by five points, according to a recent poll. We'll find out in November just how much brutal violence against women the people of Ohio's 7th district are willing to stomach from their elected officials...which unfortunately appears to be a lot, if their choices for President are anything to go by.

Blanche rescinds fund for Trump allies after GOP senators threaten to block his attorney general bid

The Republican opposition to approving Trump's personal lawyer as Attorney General, Sens. Thom Thillis and John Cornyn, have predictably folded the second they got the performative concessions they wanted, which in this case was an end to the $1.8 billion slush fund that Trump was going to reward the J6 terrorists with. Blanche issued an order that states "This order establishes, beyond any doubt, that there is no Fund." Case closed? Not so fast. Legal observers and slush-fund supporters immediately pointed out that the order can simply be rescinded as soon as Blanche gets confirmed.

"Can be undone after Tuesday. The Anti-Weaponization Fund is great!" bragged Heritage Foundation staffer Mike Howell on Twitter. As usual, the "Republican opposition" turned out to be a paper tiger, engaging in a bit of meaningless, self-indulgent kabuki to make themselves feel better while ultimately allowing Trump to get everything he wants anyway. Pathetic.

Once again, Donald Trump has canceled planned strikes and promised progress on a peace deal just before markets opened, and the markets, desperate for anything resembling normalcy, has fallen for it once again.

Never mind that Iran immediately came out and said they are not negotiating with Trump and have no plans to, instead focusing on negotiations with Oman over the strait of Hormuz. Anything to keep the money rolling in!

"Stark example of brutality:" Trump’s ICE used court orders in plan to force-feed at least 10 hunger strikers in detention

The horror stories from Trump's concentration camp continue to get more and more horrific. The latest revelations show that at the US government has forcibly used medical procedures included force-feeding, intravenous forced hydration and involuntary blood draws, on at least 10 hunger-strikers in their custody. One Kurdish asylum seeker was forcibly fed for EIGHT MONTHS before being deported, an "agonizing and traumatizing procedure that experts say can cause significant harm to the nose, esophagus and body organs."

Eunice Cho, an immigrant rights attorney, says that "The Trump administration’s choice to seek court orders to force-feed people in ICE detention who have engaged in hunger strikes is another stark example of the brutality it has unleashed against immigrants."
