They Are Raiding Schools. ICE enforcement has reached schools. Children are being separated from their families. Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove just filed a bill to stop it. Blue On the Ballot Jul 29 ICE enforcement has reached schools. Not just borders. Not just airports. Schools, where children sit in classrooms and learn to read. The Trump administration has escalated enforcement against migrant children again. Unaccompanied minors are being deported. Families are being separated. Children are being pulled from the only safe place many of them have ever known. What Kamlager-Dove Did About It Last week, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove introduced the Children’s Safe Welcome Act alongside Senator Jeff Merkley. The bill establishes federal safeguards for children at every stage of the immigration system. It creates real protections for unaccompanied minors. It sets guidelines for how children in detention must be treated. Kamlager-Dove’s words were clear: “The immigration system for children is a moral disgrace. From ICE raids at schools to children being ripped away from their families, the inhumanity of the Trump Administration’s immigration policies is appalling.” Kamlager-Dove wrote a bill to fight back immediately. What Else She Has Been Fighting In May, Kamlager-Dove introduced the Pregnant Women in Custody Act after reports that women in immigration detention were having miscarriages due to neglect. Kamlager-Dove has named the victims out loud. Renée Good, a U.S. citizen, killed. Vicente Ventura Aguilar, her own constituent, disappeared. Earlier this year, Kamlager-Dove sat across from Secretary of State Marco Rubio and told him his “credibility meter is on empty.” Rubio tried to interrupt. She kept going. When her time was up, Rubio mocked her on camera. She went back to work. On the Georgia Fort case, where a Black journalist faces felony charges for covering a protest, Kamlager-Dove led 33 lawmakers demanding answers from the DOJ. Kamlager-Dove keeps putting her name on every fight, every letter, and every bill that matters. Donate $25: Keep Her in the Fight Why Funding Matters Kamlager-Dove is already in Congress.
