Trump is asking for $1 billion in taxpayer funding for his grotesque ballroom — the obscene vanity project of an authoritarian. And Republicans have now slipped it into the latest budget reconciliation package.¹

Senator Elizabeth Warren called out that, "Trump's gold-encrusted ballroom has gone from costing $200 million funded by shady donors to $1 BILLION from TAXPAYERS."²

This funding measure is an extraordinary waste of taxpayer money. It goes directly to fuel Trump's goal of remaking America in his image while the government slashes health care and social services. Congress must block this funding.

While so many people are struggling to pay for basic necessities, Republicans in Congress are focused on tax giveaways to massive corporations and pushing every vanity project Trump requests. Sen. Warren called Trump's ballroom a "giant slap in the face to American families."³

Trump destroyed the East Wing of the White House for his ballroom, and paved over the historic Rose Garden. His lackeys at the Treasury Department are putting his signature on currency.⁴ Trump's face has gone up on the Department of Justice and will feature on some new U.S. passports — and his allies have advocated for him to be added to Mount Rushmore.⁵ He illegally renamed the Kennedy Center.⁶ He threatened museums, universities, tech companies, and law firms to follow his extreme right-wing edicts or face serious consequences. The list goes on.⁷

This is the work of a strongman and Congress must stop all of it. Our lawmakers must say NO to $1 billion for Trump's insidious projects.
