The NUCLEAR INDUSTRY spent a great deal lobbying for legislation that exempted them from liability among other things. It's an industry known for outrageous cost overruns & financial markets won't lend as a consequence. Legislation was passed that allowed COSTS to be passed on to RATE PAYERS....and then there was a $9 BILLION HOLE ON THE GROUND in South Carolina that screwed RATE PAYERS while NIKKI HALEY was Governor. OHIO REPUBLICANS took lots of generous BRIBES to BUY CRUMBLING NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS. After the RICO trial, there were 2 defendants subsequently charged, including the STATE EMPLOYEE responsible for RATE SETTING. They both committed suicide. Don't be dazzled by NUCLEAR until you research further. The excessive heat is why they are constructed on WATER which causes its own problems. It is hardly a benign energy source. It may be invisible, but it's not harmless. Decommissioning is also problematic - what do you do with the WASTE? HOLTEC thought they would ship WASTE from PILGRIM in PLYMOUTH, MA until NEW MEXICO said NO! New Mexico has widespread areas that are contaminated due to TRINITY as well as URANIUM mining. JARED DIAMOND included comments about widespread nuclear contamination in areas because of national policies. I had professors who took their sabbaticals to research areas impacted when residents were encouraged to stand outside & watch the MUSHROOM CLOUDS....so much for US ABOVE GROUND TESTING! When we lived in WASHINGTON STATE, I remember hearing that HANFORD would require YEARS of loaded tractor trailers bumper to bumper to remove the RADIOACTIVE WASTE....what did they do? THEY BURIED IT! It's leaking into water. Where do you think FUKUSHIMA waste is going? In the wake of the war in UKRAINE, have you followed the information regarding CHERNOBYL? There is also THREE MILE ISLAND that was never accurately reported. Until you research the MASSIVE NUCLEAR FAILURES, please don't endorse NUCLEAR! There are enough benign sources of CLEAN ENERGY that we don't need NUCLEAR. AUSTRALIA has employed TIDAL WAVE ENERGY for DESALINATION. While it has its limitations of physics, it can be coupled with WIND TURBINES.
