Daily Dose of Democracy:
Two-plus years later, Pence says Trump "endangered my family" on Jan. 6
More than two years later, the erstwhile enabler and milquetoast sidekick of the disgraced ex-president finally declared the painfully obvious at last night's annual Gridiron Dinner: “President Trump was wrong. I had no right to overturn the election. And his reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day, and I know history will hold Donald Trump accountable.” Looks like the former VP has finally grown a conscience. KIDDING! He's cynically trying to score political points to run against his former boss with the morally bankrupt political calculation that his party just loves.

Trump-era deregulation paved the way for massive Silcon Valley Bank collapse
In 2018, ignoring the vocal warnings of experts and advocacy groups alike, then-President Trump signed into law a repeal of "too-big-to-fail" safeguards for banks with $50 billion to $250 billion in assets. The repealed regulations would have prevented SVB's collapse — the second-largest bank failure in US history and the biggest since the 2008 crisis. Big government looking pretty good right now, eh, libertarian billionaire tech bros?

Biden tax boost targeting the rich called "fair, popular, and long overdue"

Burning eyes, dead fish; red tide flares up on Florida coast
Florida’s southwest coast experienced a flare-up of the toxic red tide algae this week — triggered by increased amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus runoff from chemically treated lawns and farmland in the water — setting off concerns that the latest bloom, which began in October, could stick around for a while. Let's definitely continue to do nothing about this slow-motion poisoning of the Gulf of Mexico.
