Wipe the smug smiles from Trump and Greg Abbott's faces

Late last year, Donald Trump ordered Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to rig Texas’ congressional districts to help Republicans build a firewall that could withstand a potential Democratic blue wave in 2026.

The result was a gerrymander so ambitious that it flipped 5 Democratic seats to the GOP with the stroke of a pen. The conservative Supreme Court eventually approved their work, solidifying MAGA’s gains and encouraging further red state redistricting.

Now other red states have followed suit: North Carolina (+1 GOP), Missouri (+1), Ohio (+2), Utah (+1), and Florida (+4 GOP).

The situation is dire, but we don’t have to take this lying down. We are fighting back — and using the slogan of Texas swagger and pride “Don’t Mess with Texas” as a rallying cry: We’re definitely gonna Mess with Texas.

Colorado Draws the Line is fighting to stop Trump from rigging the 2026 election by leading a statewide ballot initiative to redraw Colorado’s congressional districts, wiping away four GOP-held seats in Colorado and turning them blue for years to come.

I feel real optimism about what this pro-democracy movement is building. But make no mistake, Donald Trump is going to escalate.

As we move deeper into February, he is going to attack us, try to intimidate us, and try to shut us down. That is exactly why staying united matters. When we stand together, we win. We have proven that again and again.

Now to the news.

We all saw Donald Trump melt down over the Super Bowl halftime show by Bad Bunny, a performance centered on love and bringing people together. Trump’s reaction tells you everything.

This MAGA movement is not driven by ideas or policy. It is driven by resentment, cruelty, and fascism. That is not hyperbole. It is reality, and we have to confront it head-on.

This week, we are continuing our deep dive into the Epstein files. I will be conducting more long-form interviews with survivors—detailed and careful conversations that go further than anything else you will see.

I want to thank every survivor who has trusted us with their story. We will keep amplifying their voices and exposing the truth.

Today, Ghislaine Maxwell is expected to invoke the Fifth and refuse to answer questions during her deposition with Congress.

Congressman Ro Khanna has already laid out the questions she will not answer, including whether she provided underage girls to Donald Trump and whether she has been promised a pardon in exchange for silence.

She was willing to speak with Trump’s Department of Justice and lie freely. Now she claims the truth would incriminate her. We will have a full report on this later today.

We are also watching Attorney General Pam Bondi’s upcoming hearing before the House Judiciary Committee later this week. She is going to face aggressive questioning, and it may well mark the end of her tenure. Keep an eye on whether Trump tries to replace her with Todd Blanche.

Internationally, pressure is mounting in the UK, where Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing calls to resign following the appointment of Peter Mandelson as ambassador to the United States—someone now linked to Epstein. It is striking how accountability is demanded abroad while Trump and his inner circle take zero accountability, despite their names appearing repeatedly in these files in horrific ways.

This is exactly where independent media shines. This is the work corporate news will not do.

Epstein seems to have been closer with Black than almost anyone else, except possibly Trump — whom Epstein once referred to as his “best friend.” Black first met Epstein in 1996 and found him to be a “fascinating guy.” They lived two blocks apart on New York’s Upper East Side and on numerous occasions had breakfast, lunch, and dinner together at Epstein’s town house.

Black also visited Epstein’s island in the Caribbean, and he once flew with two of his children on Epstein’s jet to Boston to visit Harvard and MIT. In 2011, the two men invested in a firm (Environmental Solutions Worldwide), and two of Black’s sons served on the company’s board. It was all very chummy until 2018 when Black cut relations with him over a fee dispute.

A lawsuit alleges Black raped a 16-year-old girl (“Jane Doe”) in Epstein’s townhouse in 2002. His lawyer claimed the charges were “totally made up, entirely uncorroborated and, as pleaded, squarely violate the statute of limitations.” The alleged victim’s law firm withdrew from the case in 2025. Another alleged victim accused Black of rape in 2002, also in Epstein’s town house, and she, too, withdrew her case. — Russ Baker
