SHARED FOR INFORMATION AND EDUCATION ABOUT THE FAILURES TO

CARE FOR MILITARY FAMILIES AT HOME!

Gabe Vasquez

On Wednesday, I pressed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for real answers on the Pentagon’s use of your taxpayer dollars.

Let me be clear about what this is really about: it’s a choice between funding a reckless, endless war overseas or finally prioritizing our military families and veterans on home soil.

Making our service members wait months for healthcare or forcing parents to quit their jobs because of childcare closures doesn’t strengthen our military — it tells those who wear the uniform that their sacrifice is an afterthought once they come home.

I heard from a physician’s assistant at Holloman Air Force Base who had to resign when her son lost his childcare spot with just nine days' notice. I also heard from an airman at Cannon who said getting a referral for specialized care takes six months.

They’re the backbone of our national security, and they’re being left out to dry.

Pete Hegseth, this administration, and too many in Congress have allowed this to become the pattern: spending $1 billion a day on war while ignoring the crises in our own barracks and base housing.

But we have the chance to be the check.

This November, we must hold this seat to keep the pressure on Pete Hegseth and this administration, flip the House, and defend the simple idea that “America First” must mean putting our military families first here at home — not committing them to a forever war.

Together, we flipped NM-02 in 2022. Now, Gabe is busy in Congress fighting for economic opportunity, affordable healthcare, and the best interests of the people. Gabe won the most competitive Democratic seat in Congress in 2022, and is running to be a champion for working families and build an economy that benefits everyone.
