Sunday Afternoon News Updates – 1/11/26
A country in crisis, a president unraveling, and protests growing nationwide.

I want to walk you through what’s happening across the country right now, because you won’t see most of it on corporate media. We’ve been covering it wall-to-wall here at the MeidasTouch Network, and we will continue to do so. Across the United States, protests have surged in response to the cold-blooded murder of Renee Nicole Good by Trump’s ICE. Tens of thousands filled the streets of Minneapolis alone, and demonstrations erupted from Los Angeles to Austin, Washington, D.C., and New York City. These are ordinary Americans standing up against a regime that has crossed every line of decency, legality, and humanity. And while they march, Trump isolates himself at Mar-a-Lago, hiding away and posting delusional fantasies online on the taxpayer’s dime.
This morning, instead of addressing the national outrage, Trump posted a photo of the gilded entrance to Mar-a-Lago, flaunting luxury paid for by taxpayers while Americans lose health care because he refused to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies. He then posted a strange image of himself standing on top of the White House with the caption “soon,” while people across the country demand accountability for the illegal conduct of federal agents.
It only gets more grotesque. Trump promoted an argument for pardoning Juan Orlando Hernández, the former president of Honduras convicted of massive drug trafficking. Evidence at trial included statements like “get the drugs up the gringos’ nose and kill them.” This is the type of criminal Trump wants to free. He has already pardoned Ponzi schemers and fraudsters. These are the people he aligns himself with while he labels peaceful American protesters “domestic terrorists.”
Trump’s posts escalated even further when he suggested Marco Rubio should be “president of Cuba.” He endorsed war, intervention, and regime change. And while he threatens new conflicts with Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, and even Greenland, NATO is now openly discussing sending troops to Greenland in response to reports that Trump ordered Special Forces to prepare an invasion plan.
European leaders are contemplating sanctions against American corporations if Trump moves ahead. That is how severe and reckless this situation has become under his watch.
As if the spectacle couldn’t become more insulting, Trump then posted a photo of himself smoking a Cuban cigar with the caption praising their quality. At the same time, tens of millions of Americans face losing Medicaid in the months after the midterms because of how the regime deliberately timed these cuts.
While Trump hides online, he sends his loyalists onto the Sunday shows to smear Renee Nicole Good and the protesters. Tom Homan appeared on Meet the Press to claim that Renee and peaceful demonstrators could fall under the definition of “terrorism.” This type of fascist propaganda is designed to silence dissent and criminalize protest.
Kristi Noem appeared on CNN and refused to reconcile her praise of January 6th rioters with her attacks on peaceful protesters in Minneapolis. When pressed about the video clearly showing Renee slowly attempting a three-point turn before she was shot, Noem dismissed the evidence and told Americans to stop “arguing with the president.”
This is the language of authoritarianism. This is what it looks like when a regime demands obedience rather than accountability.
Homan was also confronted about allegations that he took $50,000 in cash as a quid pro quo from someone seeking favors within the Trump regime. His response was evasive and contradictory. He refused to answer whether he received the money, refused to say whether it was returned, and refused to say whether he would support the FBI releasing the recorded evidence. When asked how the public could trust the FBI’s investigation into Renee Nicole Good’s killing while state and local investigators are being barred from participating, he punted again, refusing to give any meaningful answer.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey pushed back on attempts to criticize his rhetoric, stating the obvious: the video shows exactly what happened. “Anybody can see these videos,” he said. “Anybody can see that this victim is not a domestic terrorist.”
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker was equally clear. ICE and CBP are “breaking their own protocols,” “roughing people up,” and in some cases “literally shooting at people and killing them.” He called for accountability, including the resignation or impeachment of Kristi Noem.
On top of all this chaos, Trump’s agencies have continued posting materials that mirror fascist propaganda. The Department of Labor issued a video proclaiming “one homeland, one people, one heritage,” echoing phrases used in Nazi Germany. Former CIA Director Bill Burns warned that Trump’s imitation of autocrats plays directly into the hands of adversaries in Moscow and Beijing.
Internationally, Trump’s recklessness continues. He previously stated the U.S. would take military action if Iran killed protesters. More than 490 protesters have been killed by Iranian security forces, with more than 10,000 detained. Trump has done nothing, despite drawing a bright line in public. So is he preparing the country for yet another war, or was that threat, like so many others, simply another empty attempt to posture?
Finally, I want to highlight a deeply disturbing video we received of an ICE agent in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota slipping on his back and then escorting a woman — possibly a detainee — into a porta-potty, with another agent standing guard outside. We need answers about who was involved, why this happened, and what exactly was going on. If you have information, please reach out to us immediately.

As an historical footnote, the US had numerous opportunities to turn the relationship with IRAN around and betrayed them.
IRAN had a DEMOCRATICALLY elected leader MOSADAGH who threatened the BRITISH CASH COW, BP.
The DULLES BROTHERS, pre-cursors of CIA, overthrew MOSSADAGH and installed the BRUTAL SHAW - lots of history...in another life, we were accepted into the PEACE CORPS to go to IRAN, so paid attention to the nation.
POPPY BUSH armed IRAN & IRAQ to fight each other, supplied different WMD to each nation to identify which nation employed thosse WMD. WMD for IRAN smuggled through ISRAEL.
Let's remember that MUSLIMS place a high value on EDUCATION - they know what the US did even if Americans choose ignorance of history.
The ALLIES drew lines on a map after the WAR to prevent more EMPIRES. Many of the nations were filled with groups that were in conflict, run by ALLIED APPOINTED THUGS who violently controlled the populations.
As an unrelated footnote, I met someone who spent time in IRAN under the SHAH establishing a dairy processing facility. IRAN has NO COWS - too hot! But that was one of the SHAH's BRAIN FARTS.
In order to understand what the US & ALLIES created in the MIDDLE EAST, you need to understand the HISTORY.
There was also a mandate that prevented IRAN from increasing their oil production.
It was always impressive when knowledgeable people like JOHN KERRY or BILL CLINTON or OBAMA addressed an issue, they had an historical foundation. More Americans need to adopt that attitude.
